What do people make of this?

I've ordered one to see what it's like plus it's annoying having a charger solely for my 10440's and another for the rest of them.

EDIT: oh crap, I just saw it has a trickle charge of 50ma, this is a bit too high right? Oh well, just have to make sure I pull them as soon as their charged.

It's new and untested, so there's not much we can make of it I suppose.

It's a pity that the charging channels aren't exactly independent, since it's 2 slots to 1 channel. Otherwise on paper it looks pretty good. 1 charger to charge them all.

When you get yours perhaps you can update this thread with information such as the the voltage at which it terminates charging, and if the charging current is up to specs. :D

Hi, how's it?
Post some reviews, thanks..

I am on my second one of these. The first one was just all messed up, gave me constant error flashes, lit up red leds for empty sockets, etc. I just got my replacement from DX about 5 days ago, and I am still not sure about it. It seems to function better than the first one, but I think it under charges. Sometimes cells come off at 4.15 which is pretty cold. Should be seperate channels, but if I put two 18650 with different charge amount in them, it seems they both have a tendancy to turn green at the same time. I have been doing my best to run some batteries down to really give it a good test, but I am not comfortable with leaving my lights on unattended. It seems to handle my rcr123's flawlessly, less so with 18650.

Also, 14500 protected don't fit in bays 1 & 2, I have to put them in bays 3 & 4 and that isn't recomended in the chart.

It says it has a trickle chare of 50mA, but near as I can tell, it seems to have a sharp cutoff despite that claim?

The chart included with the charger says problem of any type equals flashing red, but the PDF file on the soshine website says 1hz flash if under charging (what does that mean?) and 5hz is error detected. You can read it here:

Also when putting a meter across the charge terminals, it pulses from 4.35 to 4.10 volts. Is this sort of pulse charging normal? It must be how it handles constant current? I wish I was more qualified to give this charger a full review. I wonder if my putting a meter across the terminals affects the charge cycle.

I have often been finishing the charge on another charger, so from my LIMITED knowledge of this thing, I can't recomend it. If I had it to do over again, I would have ponied up the extra bucks for the PILA IBC charger, but perhaps it is just user error on my part.

Also, if for some reason I trip the protection circuit on my cell, I have to first put it on my dsd charger to bring it back, then put it in the Soshine to finish up charge.

I really need to get together with Silverfox or one of the battery experts and see if he would be willing to check this thing out for me, but I am still trying to decide if I want to RMA it instead.

Sorry I don't have any 10440 to test on it.
