Hi,

I'm in the process of making my own light unit, but unable to find the source for the kind of switch that goes on surefire and other thumb activated handheld flashlights.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone could give me a source.

Thanks in advance.

There are many ways to makes such a switch. They fall into several very categories. Clicky, reverse clicky, momentary, and twist.

There are ratings for switches based on how much current they are supposed to handle and how many times they can be used before they break down.

Which kind are you intereted in, and how much current do you need it to carry?

Enough to handle P91 lamp (sorry, my electricity sucks although I have very basic level of understanding)

Ideally, I'd like two stage switch like that used in Surefire L4, but that requires circuit wizardly :(

Regarding which kind, 'momentary/constant w/ lockout' seems good. but like I said SF L4 type is best.

I think your referring to the L2, the L4 is a Single stage light
the easiest manner to simulate a dual stage would be adding a resistor in the tailcap and two contact rings: one to connect the resistor and the other, farther back, to bypass the resistor when the switch is fully depressed.

easiest and sturdiest method for homemade switches is a twisty, as for clickies I only know the kroll switch, but its plastic and rather flimsy compared to what Gus turns out at PK's house
