Hi,

I've been using my 9N more frequently than before. I've been thinking of buying a spare battery to fill the "outage". I have a C300 overnight charger. How long does the spare rechargeable battery maintains its voltage? Is there a non-rechargeable option for 9N

Also, I have been reading some problems regarding the B90 battery not holding the charge... Is this still a valid concern or has this been fixed.

Curious,

Johnny

Welcome to CPF!

The B90 or B92 is a NiCd battery stick intended for heavy use. NiCd batteries have quite a high self-discharge rate.

The B90 battery stick did have a lot of problems but these have been fixed for many months.

You can use your car to recharge the 9N. If you do not have an auto adapter you can order the T001.

I don't know your application (reason for using the 9N) or the average length of power outage but it may be a good idea to look at getting a long runtime LED flashlight that uses SF123As.

Thanks Al.

I currently have a KL1 head ordered together with an E1 (for EDC). I am currently using the 9N for general purpose home use, but quite disgusted when it would just die, and I have no back-up. My 6P is with my AR, and I'm hesitant to take it off from the mount just to provide back-up. Thus the KL1/E1... But I'd like to have a battery back-up for the 9N. However, I'm concern with it's self life and discharge rate...

From the looks of it (NiCD discharge rate), a 2x123 SF/SL seemed to be a better proposition to act as HOLA back-up. What do you think? SF G2? SL TL2?

What do I think between the G2 and the TL2?

I'm a SureFire fan so from those two the G2 would be the one I get.

However, and of course it's easy for me to spend your money (!), I would get a WeaponLight for your AR and then you have the 6P for backup.

You may also like to consider getting an L4. That way with your E1e and KL1, the L4 gives you the ability to put the KL1 on the L4 body for long runtime and the KL4 on the E1e to create what appears to be a popular light here on CPF.

I have to say that I don't recharge all my B90 batteries all the time. Some must go a couple months in the flashlights. The issue here is that while they may be good for short momentary use, the runtime will have decreased so the only rechargeable I'd trust is one that was green lit on the charge before the power went out.
