I have a 3 x Lux III Mag dropin. It is currently installed in a 4D Mag. So, we'll say it works happily in a four cell D Mag.
Could be an easy swap for more efficient emitters, I really don't know. It is made very well, and screws in solidly. I bought this back in 2005 or 2006, and the company is now either defunct or without a website.
