Does anyone own the Spiderfire X-07 Stainless Steel P60 host that's currently being sold on DX as Spicerfire...SKU 23286???

I like stainless steel lights cuz they're damn near indestructible but just wanted to get some more info before I take the plunge. A stainless P60 is attractive since I'm thinking it would last me a lifetime but I don't see too many others buying it...is there a reason folks aren't even talking about it much?? There is a 2 mode and a 5 mode. However, one of the reviewers on DX stated that the modes are in the tailcap and thus, you will not be able to use a multimode in the 2 mode lights.

The question I have is that I would like to get a 3 mode drop in module and was wondering how that pill will behave in a 5 mode Spiderfire SS if the modes are in the tailcap??

Any input, especially from owners of this light would be appreciated.

Assuming it is a P60 host I think you could just replace the switch in the tailcap at the same time you put in a new drop-in.

It would be nice to know if spiderfire bezel could be replaced with the solarforce stainless steel flat bezel.

That's what I would think but a reviewer on DX claimed that he tried multiple switches in the tailcap and none fit :confused:.

The reviewer said he put a single mode dropin in a 2-mode Spiderfire and effectively got a two mode light due to the tailcap. What I would like to know is how a 3 mode dropin would behave in a host with 5 modes in the tailcap?

No one has this light?? Is it not interesting for a reason?

I have 2 DX's 2 mode-flashlights, I don't like it much because of the clickie that is 3 positions (on/on/off) for a 2 mode flashlight:
1st clic = on --> high
2nd clic = on + resistor --> "low"
3rd clic = off

You always have to triple-press the button to light on/off the flashlight. The driver is 1 mode.

I guess that all DX's 2 mode flashlights work like this and I suppose that 5 mode are within the dropin activated by a simple (2 positions (on/off)) reverse clickie.
If you want to change the dropin, it would be better to try this with a 5 mode flashlight.

DX sku.23287 (5 mode) will be in my next order, don"t know exactly when.

Thanks for the great response. Now that I think of it, I alos have a 2 mode DX light and it does take a few pushes to turn the light off. In fact, I often forget that it's on a lower mode and shove it back into my pocket until I feel the heat :huh:.

In any case, I'm interested in buying one of these Spiderfire X-07 Stainless Steel P60 hosts and naturally I was inclined to purchased a 2 mode. That is until I realized that the modes are in the tailcap which would make my 3 or 5 mode dropins act up.

I just have a few questions before I go ahead and purchase the 5-mode version of the light on DX (SKU 23287):

1) Is it safe to assume that the 5-mode version of this light most likely has a single on/off tailcap combined with a 5-mode dropin? (or do they really make 5-modes tailcap switches?)

2) Would running a P7 or MCE P60 pill in a stainless steel host be a bad idea due to heat? Would an aluminum host dissipate heat that much better or is it negligible difference?

3) Same question as #2 but in regards to a R5 XPG.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I read that the solarforce flat bezel doesn't fit. Strange as I would assume they are all the same size? Someone mentioned that Surefire bezel may fit but that's not certain.

X-07's head is too heavy.
