Ok I have the use of only my left arm/hand which is non dominant for a few months.
I've seen reviews of the Maddox and noone really liked it.
BUT....NoOne ever had the use for which this is designed...ONE HAND CUTTING!!
Everyone who's posted on this always had two hands to use so..sure this isn't the optimum.
So I bought one for ~$30.

I can assure you
THE MADDOX IS BADASS FOR ONE HANDERS!!

Where it is in need of attention is the sheath. It's in a clamshell that doesn't hold the blade securely. I will be taking the Maddox with me if I eat outside my home..and of course i'll be going to neighbors or a restaurant.
I may try to direct a neighbor in heating the sheath and molding it a little tighter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
That'll be interesting!!

I may get ahold of a fellow round my area that can grind an edge on the inside of one of the tips.
This will facilitate opening boxes. I would use the bum arm as a stump to hold the box then rip towards me. Much easier than the poke and rock needed now.
Though in all fairness I only tried it on two well taped boxes. I had a BABE open the other boxes I needed to open..
Thinking about it now ..... I should play up the invalid routine to get those warm arms wrapped around me as she cuts into?????

Where it excels is in cutting food.
I cut steak, tomatoes, pickles, pizza and sandwiches all without a problem or hassle. I could not do this with a conventional blade. The Maddox is shaped like an ulu with a long handle. you cut by piercing with one of the two tips then rocking back and forth.
