I remember having searched for such threads once but there was no solution, is there one?

I use my mini AA with 14500 and both my primary used levels
low - slight hiss,
med - extreme hiss
do annoy me more and more (while the whole light is nice).

Someone did anything and did that work?
(glue on inductor, or something ...)?

inductor whine. I experienced it on my jetbeam M2S. Nothing you can do other than swap it out

Here's the thread in the 4sevens forum about it:

I returned mine for replacement and the replacement does not whine.

I have bought some mini aa lights and 2 of them became very loud after some use. Not the "normal" whining that all my minis got, but more like a extreme hissing sound as decribed. I use them with 14500 so replacements was no option for me. I noticed that a "caveman fix" (give it a real slap) woud shut them up nicely for 30 sek or so berfore they started hissing again.
After a close inspection i noticed a microscopic amount of glue? (or something alcohol resistant) on the contact ring in the head. There was so little of this stuff on the contact ring that i barely noticed it when shining with another light in there:twothumbs I have cleaned them with alcohol several times before cause I suspectded it coud be a contact issue. After scraping the stuff off the ring with a knife, both my lights was silenced.
