Strange/Annoying Xp problem?

With Windows Xp when I attempt to save programs (e.g a .pdf file) to my hard drive, with 18Gb of free space, I can not because I am told the drive is full? Why is this?
I can still install other programs, like games, which are much larger. Thanks for any help...if any one can answer this strange problem!!

Kev... don't know if this is the same issue or not but try clearing your temp internet files. Run a clean up. Then try again. I was having trouble saving images int he format that I wanted and it was because the temp file was full. If that doesn't work, then I don't know.
