I have a incan Scorpion that is having issues, instead of just fixing them i was thinking about modifying it.

Question, is there a good way to get the head apart? or do i have to break the plastic lens and push the reflector/spring out that way?

Thanks

For the love of god.. send it back to streamlight and have them fix it for you. Theres nothing you can do to make it better save putting a new head on. BTW it's e-series surefire compatible. (the threads that is).

The issue that it's having is trivial, when you adjust the focus the rubber seal around the bulb pulls the bulb out of the socket every time. I'm just tired of fishing the bulb out of the head. :)

It looks like a D26 module would fit inside that head if there was a way to split it apart.

Trust me.. nothing fits inside that head. The only way to split it apart is precussion from the back out the front. with enough pressure the lens and reflector come out the front. Noone has done this yet without damaging the reflector yet. Try applying a bend to the legs of the bulb to make them harder to pull out or like I said, get an e-series head and use that.

Thanks for the link.

The head from my son's "police" Chinese light fits on as well, got it installed with a P60L.. also flipped the clip for bezel down carry.

We'll see how she does now...

Can you provide a link to the chinese light you show here and verify that the threads match the scorpion (and e-series surefire) and that the p60 drop in module fits inside without modification?

This is a revelation. People are looking for e to c adapters so they can get an e-series head that takes standard p60 drop in modules. This will upset the balance of the universe.

I'll test it on a E series this week and post the results.

only standard narrow base SF modules will fit without boaring out the head. I did drill one larger, i never finished it though.

does the tail cap fit the e-series? (another awesome question from captain obvious!)

i'll check tomorrow. :)

*edit

Yes and no. the threads in the head are set in a little so you only get 2-3 turns. Although the thread pitch is the same the diameter appears to be off by 1mm or so. It's not as obvious with the Scorpion since it threads on much further.

you could shave a few mm off the bottom of the head to make more thread contact but i wouldn't risk it on a nice E series.

I have a friend who runs a machine shop down in Florida and has expressed intrest in building custom lights and parts, I bet he'd turn out some E-C adapters if someone has a CAD of the measurements and thread size/pitch. :)
