StreamLight TL-2 LED - Which is the real one???

I got a black TL-2 a few weeks back and was planning on modding when I got around to it. I put it in a drawer. Yesterday, I got a green one and decided I better do something with at least one of these! I check the new green one out and the LED has good color but the smooth polished reflector with large hole for pedestal doesn't float my boat. I discover that I can cut two threads on a PM6 reflector and use it instead; cool. I just finished threading the reflector and it screws into the head as well as the body. Next is adapting an Ecan and making a specific front end. Wait this doesn't belong in the mod section!

So I pull out the first Tl-2 I got to compare heads and reflectors and I see that the first TL-2 I got has a textured reflector??!?!?

So which reflector do you think is going to be the stock reflector or do you think they will come one way or the other; random selection! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif The smooth one is slightly tighter but with some artifacts. I prefer the blend and mix from the textured reflector.

If you have a TL-2, what did you get? a smoothie or a bumpie?

My TL-2 LED (and TL-3) has a textured reflector. This is the first time I've heard of a "smoothie".

My TL-2 LED and TL-3 LED both have textured reflectors. Neither SLs website, nor the manual that came with the lights mentions what kind of reflector they should have. Just seems weird that they all wouldn't be the same.

So the real question is does the PM6 reflector work better than the textured TL reflector?

There's a textured reflector in my TL-2 LED flashlight, and I voted accordingly. Mine came from a vendor, rather than directly from Streamlight.

I didn't know they also came with smooth reflectors.

Both of my TL-2 LED lights (Black & Green) which I received from Brightguy on Tuesday have textured reflectors. I was able to note one of them in the survey.

I am slowly plugging along with the mod. I have other projects going on too but I should be able to finish up the mod in the next day or so. I'll probably put a DB400 with R2H in the mod and I'll compare it to a stock TL-2 with textured reflector. I don't know what current the LED is driven at but from the bench supply set at 6V it looks like the DB400 will draw about 60% of the power the stock LED-LA is drawing.
