Streamlight Twin Task 2L...Any good?

I recently bought a Streamlight Twin Task 2L as my primary EDC flashlight...(I should receive it on Monday or Tuesday.). Did I make a good choice? What are the good & bad points about this flashlight?

It's an excellent light. Some don't like the fact that it is not quite as bright as the average "tactical" light(i.e., Scorpion, 6P, etc.), but you get about 2+hours of run time on the Xenon as a plus. The 3 LEDs go almost forever.

It's not quite as small as an E2, but still small.

A MOST useful light, for the $$$, a superb light.

There is one in every one of my vehicles, and at my bedside.

i have the 1L and is good, the only thing that i don't like is the reflector that can't do a tight spot but remain always a bit flood

I've got a TT 2L and I find it to be a very useful light, well made and reliable. You made a good choice.

No, actually, it's a great light, and one of the better values out there for what you get. I have a 2L currently doing auto duty. The leds are great all around performers, and you have the incan in reserve if you have to overcome ambient light in a pinch (like changing a tire, etc.).

Thanks for the replies so far guys! I wasn't really sure that I had made a good choice, due to the fairly low price of the Streamlight TT2L, compared to the Surefire 6P.

A couple things that sold me on this flashlight (aside from the low price) is its' dual light modes, and the fact that I won't need to get a bank loan to afford to replace the lamp when it burns out, since it's a simple bulb and not the whole lamp assembly that I'd have to replace (like as with the Surefire).

if you need the same power of the 6p but at 1/3 of the price you can buy a dorcy spider /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

for the other tasks that required less power your L2 is ok

Another vote for the Dorcy Spyder. I've been using it for a while and it's great.

Joking aside, I like my TT-1 enough that when funds permit, I will get the TT-2. Even if the 2L isn't your favorite, it'll be a very useful light. Keep us posted, 99.

I have one with the tailcap drilled and tapped for a Kroll clickie, and it is my usual EDC light (though I rotate a few others).

The Kroll is very nice, giving me one hand easy access to the LEDs which I use at least 80% of the time (without having to cycle through the Xenon mode).

The switching is the only bitching I have ever heard about the Twin Task Series! I have 1L 2L 3AA and 3C versions if that tells you anything!

Mine sits in the glove box of my car, although I still can't resist taking it out to 'play' every so often. Its a great light for almost all general tasks, and it feels and looks pretty solid to begin with. Throw, as some have mentioned is not that great, but for most purposes its good enough. The Leds are plenty bright and have a decent runtime too, plus the use of 123s makes it extremely ideal for car storage/emergency lighting. The TwinTask 1 and 2L's are nice lights. As long as one keeps it in perspective as to what they were intended to do...they're great. I knew very little about them when I saw em at a sporting goods store. So, I snatched up one of each. Since I had read the 1L produced 35 Lumens on incan and the 2L produced 72 Lumens on incan...I was pumped! Then I was a bit disappointed since I couldn't tighten the beam and had a slight flood beam. My problem: I was comparing the bulb's to a TL-2 or a P60 G2/6P....and it doesn't compare to those as far as tightness of the beam. I have found the 1l to be the perfect walking around my yard/home at night...and the 2L has a nice home along with my scorpion in my glovebox. On a side note: The 2L ALWAYS impresses non flash-a-holics when I show them the two different modes. "Where can I get one of those?" is the question I hear the most. Then when they find out they aren't 14.99, they say "I'll just go buy a 2D Mag" Those poor, poor, souls.

Playboy, I'm trying to figure out a light for my daughter in college, but I don't want to saddle her with 123's...how does the 3AA TT perform? It's obviously longer and skinnier, but how is the output?

I, too, have the 1L, the 2L, and the 3AA TwinTask Lux (but no 3C! DOH!) along with our Brinkmann Maxfires.....

I really like the TT 3AA. I don't mind that it does not have the 3 smaller LEDs, the LUX is a great performer. I am running 3 AA L91 lithiums in it so I like the idea of leaving it unattended for long periods (not that it does, though). The throw and output is pretty good from a 1 watt LUX. IMHO it would be a great choice for a daughter in college. Batteries are easy to find, and she could almost use it kubaton style if needed!
