Just purchased both the TT 1L and 2L. Pretty happy with the purchase. However, I was a bit surprised when the "72" Lumen rating on my 2L didn't seem to be a true 72....in fact, compared with my SF G2, it was quite a bit weaker. I couldn't quite get the beam focused to my liking on the 2L. With the 1L, I compared it to my PT 40, since the 40 is rated at 28 Lumens and the TT 1L Inc. is rated at 35.....the 40 killed it...again, without being able to focus the beam....really no contest. I will say that both my TT will serve a very nice purpose...the 1L is small enough to fit in any pocket, and the incandescent modes of both do provide enough light to make them useful.

Yea, I think the lumen rating is really about half as advertised.

But still , fine, useful lights.

That 1L is cute as a bug.

I agree that the lumen ratings are high, but I think the TTL lights are the best all around lights made. The LED has enough light for walking at night, and close tasks, and the Xenon is bright enough to do what I need to do. I have brighter lights but I don't really need anything brighter except to say WOW.

I totally concur with much of what's been said.

No, they aren't as bright as some of the 'standard' lights.
No, they won't focus tight enough to throw light very far.

That said, the LED mode will do about 75% of what I need to do, and the Xenon mode will pretty much handle the rest.

In fact I carry a TT2L modded with a Kroll Tail Switch as primary EDC in the Holster harvested from the Garrity/Ozark Trail light that gives up it's clickie for G2s.

It allows me to quickly and easily put the light into play.

I have said and will continue to SHOUT! The Streamlight Twin Task line are not the very best lights available. But they are among the best VALUE in a light that you are likely to EVER find!

Bang for the buck baby!!!!

I agree the Twin Tasks are great for the money. I have the TT 3C, TT 2L, TT 1L and the TT 3AA.

The TT 3AA seems like an odd light to me, cannot decide if I like it. What do you guys think?

I have the lights; the TT-1 and TT-2 Lithium. I like them so much that I have them in black and in titanium.
Now, guys, the lumens are there. Yes the 72 lumens are there but are used differently. When you throw a beam with the P-60, it is all concentrated with very little side spill. The TT-2 throws a very, very wide beam that of course doesn't reach that far as the P-60; it's actually more like a floodlight. Go to your dark back yard and try it that way; you will be amazed.

I'm with you, I consider it money better spent on buying either a TT-1L or going ahead and getting the 3AA Luxeon Tasklight. The 3AA Lux' has as long a throw as the 3AA TT and IMO much better light output. Even battery performance is better if you use the high output much.

Well, I wondered if I would like the form factor of the 3 AA lights (Lux, and TT).

It turns out I love the things, not as a small carry light, but as a USEING light. You don't have to fumble around with the relatively long things. They just handle very well for me.

Now if I'm NOT useing a light, just carrying it with me for future use, the smaller formats are better.

I agree that the TTL throws a wide bean instead of a tightly focused beam. I find the wide beam more useful most of the time. When I look at my RV for instance, I can see only a relively small area around it with a PM6, and have to move the light around to see the whole area.

With the TTL xenon I can see the RV and all the area around it. Unless one needs a very long throw, the wider beam is more useable for my needs.

turbodog,

They sure do, and that is the biggest complaint most of us have with them. Maybe the Kroll switch will take care of the problem. I guess I'll know in a week or so.

I went out and tested my TT-1 and 2 L's, and I actually have grown a bit more fond of them. I think that the 1L is a cool looking flashlight, that immediately got a "whoa, let me see that!" the first time I got it out the other day...It's LED mode is perfect for walking through my house at night, and, it's a great way to check on kids/other things without waking them up. The 2L has a much better Incandescent flood, and for close/medium range, it does the trick. I guess I was just expecting it to have a beam like a Legend LX or a P60....no compaints though, the 1L is my EDC along with my SF L4.

I've been disappointed a bunch of times with high dollar guns, electronic stuff, etc., that was supposed to be "top of the line".

It is so very pleasing to buy such inexpensive lights, that really satisfy you with their quality, and usefullness.

I've got a TT2L, it won't throw an amazing beam like SF's. But its a nice task light for close > medium (~10 meter) range for sure.

How many hours can one expect from the xenon bulb in the TT2L? Is there a storage for a spare on the light?

No spare blub inside, I think this is because that even the bulb blows up, you still got the LEDs. Running time for the incand is more than 2 hours and 20+ for the LEDs, pretty nice~

Actually, I meant how many lifetime hours for the xenon bulb? This is the only spec I can't find on their website.

jbrett14-
you'll be lucky to get 20+ hrs. out of the supposed Xenon bulb. These lights (the entire TT series) are made in China and carry a meager vacuum bulb that has about as much Xenon in it as the air you breathe.
