Maybe it's because I didn't leave it on the charger long enough (4 hours), but last night I was very impressed with the beam on my new Strion (similar I thought to my 6P) yet when I turned the Strion on this morning, the beam was yellow instead of white and the battery cut-off then shut the light off. I probably used the light for no more than 6 minutes last night.

Is it possible that the battery could have self-discharged this much over a period of 10 hours? I had similar problems with the batteries in mySurefire 8AX and ultimately got rid of that light.

I will leave the Strion on the AC charger all day today and see if that helps.
 
It can take a few cycles to condition the battery, I think. Yes, do charge it all day, and repeat a couple times to see if that helps. You might also have a dud battery. Those are unfortunately not so rare.
 
I think my earlier criticism of the self-discharge rate might have been a false alarm. I charged it for seven hours on Saturday and it maintained it's charge through the next few days. It was still burning strong during a 40 minute burn test this morning, Tuesday (the darn thing does get hot though). It looks like this light will definitely replace my 6P.
 
Am thinking of Strion ... Sure would like more info on self-discharge rate of it's battery as my use might result in some considerable shelf-time. I'm not interested in "topping off" before use ... more "grab 'n go".
 
Not sure of the discharge rate but Streamlights manual say that Lith-ion batteries should be used and charged often and is meant to stay in the charger when not in use.

UPDATE:

The battery seems to be holding its charge very well. I am usually topping the battery off once a week for about 10-15 minutes in the charger. I carry this light in my jacket pocket during the week.
 
Do not expect 10 years shelf life like Lithium 123 batteries, but even if you consider 2% self discharge per month, I wouldn't bother to top off every month.
