I really like the Strion but I have not seen one in person. In fact, I recently missed a very good deal on B/S/T. Does anyone have any photos of this light, especially sowing the charge area as well as with reference to something like an L4 or ther standard size? Also, any opinions?

Thanks,
Robert

Strion, top, with SF 6P "Defender". Same size.

Charging contacts on Strion. It won't work with a Stinger charger.

I'm a big fan of the Strion. Its the same size as the SF 6P and G2, with the same or better output. Advertised at 12,000 CP and 80 lumen. But it can be recharged, for guilt-free usage, which is a big bonus IMO. Excellent throw that will light someone up from long distance, or melt their retinas up close. Only real downside is that its not an LED, and is too bright for close-up work, IMO. Its my EDC, and rides in a SL Jr. Luxeon holster. Li-Ion battery with no memory, and recharges in 2-3 hours. Spare bulb in tailcap. Home and car chargers available. Not much to dislike.

best regards

I concur with powernoodle. I had the Strion for a month or two but didnt use the rechargeable option as much as I hoped so I sold it. Otherwise a very nice light. For close-up, I just rotate the head so the light is spread out.

What powernoodle said. I love my Strion. It is my EDC in my left pocket along with my wallet. It couldn't be a nicer light. I use it all the time with no guilt. I even bought an extra battery and some extra lamps.

The Strion is a great all around light. But I would gladly trade some brightness for runtime. To make a great flashlight even better would be a regulated 3W LED mod for the Strion, that would run 40-ish lumens for 6-ish hours between charges.

Modders? Invent this mousetrap and the CPF'ers will beat a path to your door!

Cheers,

Dave

the big disadvantgae of the incandescent is no low power setting...that would be awesome on the Strion...even a twintask-type deal would be wonderful. But as it is I carry a second little LED light for lowlight situations.

I like my Strion. Output, very similiar to Stinger, and brighter than SureFire 6P. Guilt free lumens, with LiIon battery pack, 2000mAh's. They are available at Markell Inc. Santa Rosa, CA. 1-800-550-5885. They are running a special at $69.99, includes one cradle, one battery, and AC and DC cords. I got mine there. They are an offical Streamlight warranty shop/store. They sell other brands of lights, but specialize in Streamlight Sales for Police/Fire/Security, and the public. I am not associated with the store, and have been buying their lights for years. They do not know my CPF handle, Bullzeyebill, and I did not tell them I would be discussing their store on CPF. Check out their other Streamlight proeducts.

I own a Strion myself. Is the light water resistant?
I can't seem to find any info in the manual or in Streamlight's website.
Anyone tried submerging their Strion? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I can't find anything about the water resistance either...I assume it is rain resistant but I'm not sure I'd dunk it...

Thanks all!

Bullzeye,
Do you know if Markell has a website? That's a great price but I live in NY. Maybe they would ship it to me?

Thanks,
Robert

I just got off the phone with Streamlight. The lady there said it IS water resistant. If you have any problems with that she said send it back and they will fix. She said the O rings make it water resistant...which makes sense. So it is quasi official /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

RH, Don't know if they have a web site, but from the Streamlight site:

Markell, Inc
1520 Mark West Spring Rd.
Santa Rosa, CA 95404

Geez! What a steal! Got mine for $89.99 last week from an online retailer...

it seems to be available with 1 or 2 cradles...

I have seen it for as much as $179 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

The Strion is a great light for all the things mentioned above and more. My gripe with it was the form factor. I thought it was a little too slippery in my hand. The tail cap didn't appeal to me either. I would say this light is only negligibly water resistant because of the tail cap. If SL had made this light in the TL-2 form factor with maybe a clickie switch this light could have been a home run. Hopefully they'll come out with other versions of it like they have with the Stinger. But some of this is just my personal preference. Sold mine last month.

RH, I was at Markell yesterday. They do ship using UPS. No web site, just via phone. Use 800 number. As a Streamlight distributor they have lots of different Streanlight products.

I also felt the light did not have knurling that was aggressive enough. Also the fact that it is not meant to be left on the charger, as the stinger is, was a down fall for me.

Not that this matters, but the instructions say "The Strion is designed to be continuously in the charger when not in use."

I agree that its a little slick, esp when actuating the button. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
