Suggest a light for my needs

I've been looking though the reviews but it's really hard to sort through them looking for just the right specs.

My needs are as follows:

Handheld, 6" in OAL or less
1" body
2-CR123 or 1-18650 battery
LED head less than 1.5" in diameter
200+ lumens
200 yard throw (prefer very narrow spot type beam)
Up to $100 in cost + ship/tax

I've been looking at the fenix tk21 and the surefire 6px tactical.

Am I looking in the right direction?

If you're looking for a long distance spot beam, ie no spill you're only options in a small light really are aspherics or recoil lights. Recoil lights would have too large a head though. This leaves aspherics to get a spot beam with good throw AND a compact head. I would say Deft edc but it's above your budget.

I'd say just for fun try out the X2000 flood to throw zooming light. You may be pleasantly surprised at how effective the throw is.

Im very impressed with my Arymtek Predator's throw... and its just within your requirements.

light is just alittle over 6"
1" body
2xCr123, or 1x18650, or 2xRCR123.
bezel is just is under 1.5" in diameter.
310-500 lumens, depending on what tint and bin you want. (mine is the high CRI 3000k tint, rated at about 310 lumens, and this thing keeps up very well in terms of throw when compared to my XM-L modded Catapult).
$99 shipped, addition $5 if you want to customize your order.

other nice qualities about the light....
very nice matte finish,
programmable UI, lots of options, but can also re-program first line's brightness on the fly easily.
comes with a nice holster, and nyogel.

other lights you might want to check out are from the jetbeam and eagletac line. many of their lights are designed for throw.

surefires with TIR optics throw very well too, and usually comes in a more compact size.

Maybe take a look at the JETBeam Jet-III M ? About 5-1/2", 1" dia. tube (head dia. is about 1.3"), Aluminum HA-III finish, 2xCR123 (or 1x18650) power, XM-L LED, 450+ lumens throwing 200+ yards, available for < $90....

I’ve literally been burring my eye’s out of it’s socket reading and looking at video reviews, so I can relate.

However, I decided on the G5 for it’s throwing power. If you’re interested in this one, it’s a bit over your budget parameters at it retail price. BUT check out GoingGear, they’ve got it at one heck of a (discounted) price and ask them if you can use their coupon code which will bring it even closer to your said budget.

I think the G5 is a great light and would serve your purpose wonderfully. That said, when I was buying my first light, someone opened up the possibility of "building" a light vs ordering a complete light and I'm glad they did. I spent a little more time, but less money and I got exactly what I wanted.

If I wanted a solid, 1" body light that could throw with the best of them, this is what I would do:

1. Order a Solarforce L2P host
2. Order an XRE-R2 drop in from Nailbender
3. Put the drop in in the host, walk outside and illuminate objects at obscene distances.

What I said above may not make sense to you if you are new to the flashlight "scene" but I would be happy to provide more information if you wanted to go in this direction.

I understand the "specs" listed above, but am not sure about what your "needs" are. A long throw and tight beam in a 1" body suggests a weapon light, but I don't want to assume that is what the intended use actually is. Is it possible to better describe what the light will be used for? It might make a difference in recommendations...

personaly i have a surefire 6px tactical (200L) and 4sevens quark x 123 2 (360L) the surefire has a tighter beam but the 4sevens is a bit brighter. iv lit up a whole football field with the 4 sevens.  not sure if thise helps.<br>im a paramedic and i carry the 4sevens when working.
