SureFire 10X

As a Police Officer I naturally want the best flashlight I could get. Surefire's web site advertises the 10X as being the best for law enforcement use. Has anyone of you well schooled flashlighters bought one and can share some information on it, like is it worth it? Just how bright does it get?
Thanks in advance

Hi PureBlue 146...welcome to the CPF!

I`m not a law enforcement officer, but I can gladly share the following observations with you for whatever they`re worth:

1) I`ve purchased three of the 10X911 kits from William at Texas Tactical Supply...one for myself and one for each of my two sons.

2) The 10X is a truly well made flashlight, with a bright beam of light that is nothing short of spectacular. (I use the MN31 and MN32 lamps...that being 440 lumens and 110 lumens respectively...for a total of 550 lumens.)

3) My oldest son was just sworn in as a police officer for the City of Atlanta Police Department, and I`ve sent his 10X to him. It`s my understanding that he carries on his duty belt an Ultra Stinger flashlight that is issued by the department, but that he keeps his 10X (along with an M6 that I also sent to him) in his gear bag so that he can use it for traffic stops, etc.

3) Two minor shortcomings as I see it: (i)If you need a flashlight that can also be used as an impact weapon, then the 10X would probably not be the best choice...it would appear to be too fragile for that type of use, and (ii) although they`re apparently working on it, I`m not yet aware of any holster to use for carrying the 10X.

Notwithstanding those two shortcomings, though, IMHO the 10X, along with the M6, are simply two of the best and brightest flashlights ever made, and are at the very top of the legendary category of "must have" flashlights.

Best wishes to you!

I know of a Police Office in London's MET Police who uses a SureFire 10X - it's stunning for traffic duty - a wall of light.
I have one myself, but no experience using it for police or "duty" type activities. Carrying it needs consideration as there is currently no dedicated option from SureFire.

Respectfully,

Al

The 10X is not a duty light. It may not even fit into the realm of a tactical light. It's an unproven light and design, when used in the context as a law enforcement tool.

Secondly, there is no carrying option for it.

I know SureFire is working on a holster for the 10X, but I'm not sure when it'll be available.

The latest version of 10X is incredible! You should also look at the full sized TigerLight with built-in pepper spray dispensing capability. The TigerLight would be my personal choice for your application!

Dan.
