Surefire 5W KL led.

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

It's called the KL4 for the E2e and the KL5 and KL7 (they say it goes all the way to KL9, but I didn't see anything above KL7) for other lights. See the comparison chart in the back of the catalog.

Page 18 of the catalog says that the new 5 watt KL's will be released "throughout 2003" and will produce "at least 80 and possibly 100 lumens".

Oh my, I'm drooling on my keyboard. Guess I'll have even more orphan E2e incandescent heads.

I saw the KL4 for the e2e in the catalog. I wonder how the runtime would be on it. It would produce more lumens at its lowest level(80 lumens) then the incad. produces. This light would be perfect for edc. Of course knowing SF it could be forever until we see it. Its good to see they removed "The Beast" from the catalog.

Abe, Have you tried running a search for "The Beast" on CPF?

If you still can't find anything, please start a thread in the "HID" section and I'm sure you'll find out.

Respectfully,

Al

The 5W KL's seem to have deep reflectored assemblies. Can't wait to see what they look like in the paper catalog.

Cheers.

This is truly wonderful news...! Getting the KL1 for my E1e was a brainless choice, but I wasn't nearly as excited about the KL1+E2e, or the KL3+C3.

I have 15(E1e)/65(E2e)/100(C3) lumen lamps for a reason, and it didn't make sense for me to make them all into 16(E1e)/17(E2e)/19(C3) lumen lamps.
(EDIT: Well, okay, the E1e+KL1 makes sense -- I just didn't see the point of making everything <20 lumens... Run-time is important, but so is variety..)

But now... I am honestly excited about the KL4/5/7 replacement heads -- just like I was excited about the KL1+E1/E1e.

The KL4/5/7 head replacements actually don't take away tons of lumens from the flashlights, actually give comparable output, AND considerably longer run-time.

Now we're talkin'!

I just hope we don't have to wait 11~12 months before they become available...

But you know we will... heh.

More food for thought. For those waiting and willing to spend $150 plus for the regulated 60 lumen incandescent A2, is it worth it to wait a little more for a regulated LED that could possible produce even more lumens then the A2? Some will say of course to buy both but there are also those of us who have to choose their higher priced flashlights more carefully.

Hey guys, with all of these new SF heads in the oven, you may want to sign up for some of the Dspeck UBH units. He is doing a feeler for interest level in the BST forum to run another batch of bodies. I have one of the early brass units, and you can put some of your unused ex heads to good use, not to mention all the other ways this great product can be utilized. With this new generation of digital heads, the battery problem goes away depending on your needed run time.

Can someone please scan these pics and post them for those of us without a catalog.
