I got a 9P. It's a fine light, serving as my EDC (yes, I know there are smaller 2 cell lights, but I like this one).

I'm wondering what else I could do with it. I was thinking maybe an R30 lamp and run it with 2 AA cells.

Or also, as the subject asks:
Would a B65 battery stick drop right in? Assuming I swap in a P60 lamp of course, could I then use it as a rechargeable?!

Yes, the 6P + A19 = 9P. If you have a 9P and want to use the B65 battery you will need the A20 extension. If you have a 6P and want to use the B65 battery you will need the A14 extension. The A14 is a lot cheaper than the A20. You could use the 6P + A19 + A20 to use the B65, but it would cost more. The 9P is the right length for 2 AA batteries. I think the R30 will work with 2 rechargeable AA's or 2 lithium AA's. I don't know if the R30 will work with alkalines. Hope this helps.

What oldgrandpa said is correct.

6P + A14 -> 6R
9P + A20 -> 6R
6P + A19 + A20 -> 6R

I wouldn't use the R30 though as I find the beam to be somewhat yellowish and poor. I would rather use the B65&P60.

Klaus.

I have run an R30 with a pair of NiMHs and find it OK. I'm afraid to try a pair of L91 1.5 V lithiums, hovever. This is because the voltage drop will be less with 2 lithium AA's than with one 123. I flashbulbed an MN01 in a Doug Speck UBF with tso L91's.
