Hi Folks

I have searched but found either too much info to read or not relevant so forgive me if this has been asked before.

Does anyone know of a company or modder who can convert the standard Surefire 6p twisty tailcap to work like a Surefire L1 tailcap to be used with a Malkoff drop-in.

Any info appreciated :)

Cheers Andy

No one does this mod or will claim to for fear of Surefire sending their lawyers to their houses with a cease and desist order or, worse, a lawsuit. Your best bet would be to get one of the factory Surefire two-stage tail caps and use it with your 6P. Alternatively, you can search for a McGizmo McC2S. They're almost as rare as hen's teeth and people who have them typically don't want to let them go. If they do let one go they go for $$$!

like an L1 no, but one can make a resistrored two-stage tailcap (not on the 6P twistie cell though)

Soalrforce L2 tailcaps have the circuitry for a resistor on their PCb. So one needs the proper SMD resistor and a two stage switch.

This ElectronGuru sales thread under switch upgrades has a link to the McClicky kit to mod a Z41. Clicking on the picture sends you to the Oveready site where you can download the how to directions in pdf format. If your not so inclined, you can buy a Z59 tailcap from them for a little more. The Z59 has the same black type 2 anodizing that matches your 6P. Another advantage to buying a Z59 is the McClicky mod is pretty much one way. The recommended method leaves either a punch hole in the rubber boot or tool marks on the bare aluminum piece that holds the battery spring.

if you get a Malkoff host and a 2 stage ring you can get a low/high mode by twisting the head of your light.

This is the best 2 stage option that I know of.

Thanks for the responses fella's. I also think after much searching that a Malkoff MD2 is the way forward rather than a 6P mod. Just have to wait until payday now :).
Cheers Andy
