I am a long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks to all who have "enlightened" me on quality lighting instruments while at the same time created a hole in my wallet.

I received my A2 (red led's) about a month ago and I love the idea. I notice the oval incan beam that members have pointed out, but what I have not seen posted is the LED beam characteristic that I am experiencing. Under about 20 inches I can see the 3 different beams of the LED's; over 20 inches and the beam turns into a target, with a smooth beam in the center and a lighted ring just outside of that (like a reverse donut). I have a couple of LED lights that have single bulbs with flawless beams that costed a lot less, so this reverse donut was a little disappointing. Has anyone else experienced this?

That is normal. Do not worry about that.

It's just the way, the leds behave in such configuration.
If You do not need a spot, then frost Your leds :D

Welcome to CPF, Jbo. Check out all the LED beamshots in this thread.

I'm deeply disappointed in you two former A2-lovers for not sharing that reference. Send me your A2's immediately, or risk joining my ignore list.
:nana:

Heya, Illum, 'zat really your new A2?

almost scored a red A2...but I failed that part [waited too long in PM past 24 hours and the seller turned it down]

I read about "beam anomaly" of color A2s in another forum

the A2-WH doesn't seem to share the same beam properties as the colored....I measured 20" and did a test...i didn't see a reverse donut, it was pretty much just scatter.

carrots usually the first to inform news...I'm not sure why he didn't share the reference
