So, I'm just curious - B65s are equivalent in size to a stack of four 123a cells, right? So a 6R with four 123a cells and a D26 size 12v lamp should be a poor man's M4. Plus, in the form of the 7z, this should be fairly weildy as a handgun light. Anyone tried something like this?

For those who haven't but are going to, I strongly recommend swapping out the old stock bezel for a modern one with a pyrex lens. You probably will melt your old round-style plastic window.

Sounds interesting. I have a B65 lying around waiting to be recycled, but looks like you came up with a new idea!

B65 is made of 4x2/3A cells and shorter than 4x123A but you can add two of 1 cell extender to your 6P to use with 4x123A
BTW, what is advantage of linked bulb?

Don't pay $36 for a re-badge of a G&P 12V bulb, you can get the same bulbs on ebay for a few dollars, even less on a few *other* places on the net.

As FM has said, 2/3A size cells are smaller than CR123s. I agree with the recommendation to use 2 regular 1 cell extensions.

Actually, even better, just get a 2x18650 body and run a high output "3 cell" bulb. Like the P91 or 1794 or up and coming IMR-9 D26.

oh.... and there is no way to make a D26 module do anything like the turbohead of an M4. You can get some serious lumens in the D26 form factor, but it's not going to throw the way the big 2.5" reflector does.

4X 2/3A NiCd Surefire cells fully charged would be about 5.6 volts total, at 600mA's. OK to run the P60 LA for awhile, but not a SF 4 cell LA.

My goal was to get a B65 light running a 12v D26 lamp in order to get a 12v CombatLight body. Two adapters destroys the ability to use the Rogers grip on a stock body. Does anyone make flattop CR123 primaries?

I am looking at my B65 conversion setup with 4 CR123's which we know is too long for the 6P+A14 body. Flat top CR123's would still be too long for the setup, as you need at least .25 inch clearance between batteries and top of tube. Four SF batteries stick up about 0.27 inches above the body, so would need to be about 1/2 inch shorter, or so, and flat tops would not make that difference up.

The 7Z is slightly longer than the original 9Z but can be used in the same manner with the addition of a custom made spacer. Put in 3 CR123 batteries. You will see that you still have some space left in the tube. Buy an aluminum dummy 123 cell and cut it down to the correct size to fill the space. Put heat wrap or tape to insulate the sides of the body of the cut down spacer. Insert the spacer and put the tailcap on. You can use a P91 or P90 lamp assembly while still being able to use the Rogers grip since you have not altered the length of the body.
This mod is in keeping with the original lights flexiblity. It was meant to be used mainly as a rechargeable but came with an aluminum dummy spacer to use with two CR123's when you chose to not use the B65 rechargeable battery. The only difference here is the dummy spacer is shorter than the original allowing you to use the 9 volt lamp assemblies instead of the 6 volt.

That defeats the point - I wanted a 12v D26 lamp because my 9Z isn't bright enough for room clearing. Does anybody make tube extenders that only add a quarter to half inch to the tube?

Use three of AW's IMR16340's with the D26 12 volt LA. If there is a problem of instaflash then purchase one of AW's softstart tailcaps for C, P, M series SF's. Can that LA be run with two 17500's. What is advertised lumen rating of that LA?

There are no 12v combat lights that I am aware of, meaning a light built to be held in the Rogers grip. No disrespect but if the 9 volts lamp assemblies are not bright enough you must be clearing warehouse bays. I use my Malkoff M60 Q5 in a Surefire Z2 to clear rooms and hallways. It illuminates the entire room like daylight. For warehouse bays in the industrial section I use my M4 held in the cigar grip which readily reaches the other end. It is a 12 volt with a 2.5 inch turbo head but not a factory designed combat light. My M4 tube is a Leef 2x18650 and I run a LF EO-M3T bulb.
