Can the Surefire gurus tell me if the more expensive C2 is worth the extra price when compared to 6P. Seems like the output is the same. Anyt extra feature that is worth the extra $$? Thanks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi amlim

There are two very important features of the C2 that make it well worth the extra cost:

1) PocketClip - unless you plan to carry the 6P in a pouch or holster, the C2 is far more easy to carry around on you.

2) HA - Hard Anodizing is a far more durable finish. The standard black of the 6P will scratch and wear with carry and use. HA maintains a protective finish far longer.

Both the 6P and C2 have a LockOut TailCap and Pyrex lens.

The C2 has a CombatGrip for a wider range of grip options - especially useful if you plan to use it with a handgun. I don't buy like the CombatGrips as they give me a more secure grip.

The 6P being black finish allows the use of the wide range of extras and additional parts - add an A19 to convert to a three SF123A and run the P90 or P91 lamps. You also have the ability to use a huge variety of TailCap switches and a variety of bezels.

In stock form though, I'd get the C2 over the 6P. It's more practical and useful for me.

Hi amlim /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif,

My first Surefire is a C2 and it's in black color. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif I also bought a matching KL3 LED head for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Recently i added a A19 battery extender to it to be able to take 3x123 cells. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif I'll soon be sending the KL3 to US to be modded into a 3W with Pelican reflector. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif Currently the C2 + A19 is using P90 incandescent lamp which produced 105 lumens. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Go for the cheaper 6P if you want to expand on the accessories like A19 Battery Extender and Z32 Shock Isolated Bezel which is only available in black color. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

If you go for a C2 in HA, you still can get a M2 Shock Isolated Bezel for it but no Battery Extender. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It's your money, final decision is still up to you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

hi albert /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

thanks for the reply / information.

i am now looking at a 6psn and the c2. in terms of cost, the difference is about US$10.

i think i will go for the c2. hehehe...

cheers.

The C2 is a very nice light... you won't be disappointed if you get it. Like albert said, it also can be converted to an M2 by adding the shock isolated bezel and a second o-ring to the tail, if you like.

What color are you getting?

Remember he CPF motto. Buy both and decide for yourself /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I believe the 6PSN has the Z32 Shock Isolated Bezel and has been tested and rated (aka "N certified" for 100ft/33m). Which would explain why it costs more than a standard 6P.

The Z32 has a Lexan lens rather than Pyrex.
(The Lexan lens can be replaced).

Between the C2 and the 6PSN I would get the 6PSN. It would mean carrying it in pouch but it has a shock isolated bezel and that's a proven performer for me.

A question: is the 6PSN the same light as the 6PN? Or is the 6PN another variant that is non-shock isolated and just water tested?

Thanks in advance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The 6PN does not have a the Z32 Shock Isolated Bezel. "N" on the end of a SureFire model code indicates that it has been tested and rated for "Navy" use - 33 metres depth waterproof.

IIRC, the 6PSN also has a "membrane sealed" tailcap, non-lock out. At least that's what SF customer service told me when I bought mine.

Thanks for the info. I believe this could be the same as Z23 Diaphragm Sealed TailCap which is a term I have heard of from SureFire.

The Z41 aka Standard LockOut TailCap is also diaphragm sealed I believe.

I checked my old e-mails, he did indeed call it a "diaphragm sealed" tailcap. I don't know where I came up with membrane sealed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif. The bezel is the same as on the waterproof classic weapon mounted lights. He also said the light is tested to 1 atmosphere.

So you want a HA, yeah? Backtrack a little to see my explanation on A19 thingy.

I got my lamp from Sheares Marketing at Beach road or directly from the net, depending which is cheaper.
