Does anyone know if two rechargeable AAs could be used in a Surefire that takes 3x123 batteries like say the C3 Centurion?

I know you can get generic bodies that would fit the KL1 head, but does anyone make a generic body that would hold two AAs for one of the brighter Surefire heads that put out 65 lumens? Or can I just put two AAs straight into the C3?

Thanks, Shane

hi,
??? 2x 1.2v AA rechargeable = 2,4v. there is NO surefire that runs on 2.4v, with output over 15 lumen (ok maybe a E1 with KL4) and uses a C series tube.
Use rechargeable lithiums (Pila); thats the only way to get 65 lumen or more out off a surefire C3 using rechargeable batteries.

I remember a long, long time ago.....

PK was playing around with the idea of running 2x AA and a R30.

I don't think this experiment worked.

Yes, Pila's are a good way to get a rechargeable light. I've posted in the past about reaming out a C3 to take the fat 18mm Li-Ion cells and that's a good way to extend the runtime, especially with the P91 lamp. My P91's only saw 3x123 for a few seconds. Since then they've been running on 18500 size Li-Ions with no difference in output. Guilt free 200+ lumens of light /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

P91 & 2x17500 & UBH & E2C & Z44 bezel works nicely too

I have a pair of C3's with the M2 bezel running on Pila's right now. One of these, plus an A2, are the only SF's left in my daily kit. Arc has invaded my pocket EDC. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The C3 + Pila is great.

Now, running an SF on two AAs? I do it all the time-- DSpeck's UBH (3x123) body came with a special sleeve to increase the diameter of two AA cells to that of 123s. So I run a KL1 on two AAs. Not as sleek as the ARC-LS-2AATSP, but very functional, and the first Surefire I could turn on and leave on.

However, this only works because the KL1 or E1 heads run at 3v, which is close enough to the 2.4-3v of two AA's. The normal 3-cell lamps are 9v nominal, and run well on the 7.4-8.4V of the two Pila 50x17mm cells.
