Surefire E1B question

I know the Surefire E1B uses a two-stage UI, but what I'd like to know is what would be required to convert it to a single-stage? In other words, is the two-stage functionality in the tail switch, or in the head?

If it is in the head, are there any other Surefire single-stage LED bezel assembles that would work with 1xCR123A?

I know I could use a Malkoff VME, but I'm interested specifically in the Surefire heads. For example, the single-stage Surefire M300A weaponlight runs on 1xCR123A, but I'm not sure if that bezel assembly is the same as the KX2C head.

I believe that the functionality is in the head, not the tailcap. The body should be compatible with any other E series head. Other forum members who are more knowledgeable than myself can probably give you more details.
