I have a surefire E2E that I gave a good friend. It has the standard head that was not LED at the time. What is the cheapest way to upgrade it to an LED model that would be brighter? Surefire heads are expensive!

30 dollars now we are talking! It looks like the one is designed for 2 CR123A batteries which is what he already has. I'm guessing that one would work perfect for him.

Do we know for certain that will just screw on and work perfect with an e2e and still be water proof?

Here's another likely 1-cell option. Very cheap, and also available in black.

Run it on a single 17670 or 14670 Li-ion cell, or a single CR123A or RCR123 with a CR123A dummy cell.

No guarantees... and is water submersion an absolute requirement? Who knows. There is another forum member here who has the T1 and T2 and he said they are E-compatible. My TLS head is E-compatible for sure and the flashlights in the KD pics look like the same line of products. I'd be willing to gamble some money that they're E-compatible... in fact I put my money where my mouth is...

I ordered the T1 tonight because for $30, it is likely a fantastic light. The TLS head that I paid $80 for in the USA is an awesome head and it looks like the T1 is using the same head. For $30 I decided it was a hand worth playing.

The threads on that Romisen NEX clone are far too fine to be E-series compatible. I don't own one, but can immediately tell by the pictures.

Assuming that the KD T2 light uses the same head as the OpticsHQ TX2 single-mode head, that is the one I would get, not the T1. The T2 should work fine using both 1xLi-ion, 2x123A, and 2xLi-ion. If the T1 uses the same head as the OpticsHQ TX1 single-mode head, then the T1 will work only with 1xLi-ion or 1x123A.

Supposedly the OpticsHQ heads are now better sealed against dust and debris infiltration, such as from pocket carry. My original version was not well-sealed and lots of crud collected inside the head. I finally opened it up to clean it out. I added an o-ring under the glass window, which appears to be the route of entry.

I encountered this same situation. I'd given my old E2E to a non-flashaholic friend. I'd already converted it to a single 16760 cell and a Lumens Factory EO-E1R lamp assembly.

Eventually he dropped it and broke the lamp. I could have gotten him another lamp, but looked around for LED conversions for the E2E. Finally I gave up and got him an Eagletac T10L, which is fantastic: http://www.eagletac.com/flashlights/t10l.html. He already had a charger for the 17760 (works also for 18650), and I had a spare 18650 which I gave him.

The T10L doesn't handle like the E2E, but has a very simple UI, is very bright, has excellent beam design and long runtime.

The E2E is a beautiful design -- it feels and handles perfectly. However as the T10L illustrates, you can get an entire good-quality LED light for less than some current E2E LED conversions. If someone eventually makes a lower-cost LED conversion for it, that would be nice.

Justin... as I already have the 8.4v TLS head (from your recommendation!) I decided to order the T1 as I am quite content running on a single cell... even with my two cell lights, I run with a single (longer, 17670/18650) li-ion.
