Surefire e2L on 14670? Or e2L AA?

Hello,
Since january i have been using a surefire e2L AA and i like it a lot. However it is a loooong light so i guess an e2L (2x cr123) should be a lot handier. The fact however that it should be run on two primaries is a real dealbreaker to me. so: can it be run on a 14670? And what are the results in that case?

It will run just fine on a single RCR. Output will be the same, just shorter run time.

If I put the E2L AA head on a E1L body and power it with a RCR123, would it do any harm?
I guess 2 lithium AA cells will give about the same voltage (under load) than a single 16340 cell, or am I wrong?

I would not do it. The E2L-AA head is specified for 2xAA cells (each cell @~1.5V is in total ~3.0V). The E1L head is also specified for 3V (1xCR123). Only the E2L (2xCR123) is specified for voltages up to 6V.

A full 16340 cell has a voltage of about 4.2V. I would not try it out with my E2L-AA head (I have all three outdoorsman lights). The load of a Outdoorsman light is also not "very" high. This lights are designed for a longer runtime and a little less Lumens rate (~40-80 Lumens depending on the light) instead of a high lumens rate like a E1B backup with 110 Lumens.

I'd choose the E2L (2xCR123) for using with 14670. I tired this with my E2L and this works without any problems. I have two 14670 cells and they work well with LX2, A2L, E2L.

When one uses a 14670 cell in an E2L, does the light shut off abruptly, or does it become dimmer with a long taper?
