Anyone use this or the EP210? Why is it so expenseive? High sound fidelity? Durability?

I'm thinking about buying a high quality 2.5mm headset, and I'm curious about the Surefire EP500.

Also, is there such a thing as a device that provide inline volume control for 2.5mm headsets?

And would anyone happen to have any experience with the Iasus NT3 throat mic?

I use shure e2c's. Pricey, but I guarentee you will love the quality. If you want 2.5mm then snip off the old 3.5 and solder a 2.5mm one on. Also don't forget they have bluetoothe earphones now, my dad bought some and a 2 gb chip and he always listens to music on his phone now. (he has the krazr)

Oh, I have Shure earphones and I know they're quality, that's why I'm considering the Surefire EP500. However, if it's not "that much better" than a $15 set you can buy from a cellphone store, I'll pass on the Surefire EP500. One thing I do want though, is an inline volume control of a 2.5mm headset, and for $166, I think the Surefire EP500 should have it.

Hi H2xblive, I've now got the EP500 on my Nokia 6300. It is working nice, not in the sense of a sound quality as the Shures, but the build quality is much, much different from a 15 buck crappy thingy. The sound is good, clear, the mike and speaker are housed in nice aluminium pods, the divider of the cable between mike and speaker is also a very nice aluminium pod. Cable's are nice and good. The earpiece took me some time to get used to, after wearing it 8 hours for the first day it did hurt in an odd way, not really pain, perhaps more irritated, just like I can have with a shure after several hours inside my ear.

Other people think the sound quality (of my voice) is nice or good. One thing I noticed is that it pics up a lot of sound around you, but it seems to pick out higher sounds more. Ow and the windscreen is very good, even blowing straight in the mike to annoy the other side isn't possible anymore!!!
I like the thing overal.
