I'm waiting, patiently at the moment, for the KL4. I have a couple nice ideas for cooling that I'd like to share, but I wouldn't know who to tell about it. I have a feeling it's something that could be patented.

You can tell me...Be assured it will never make production... (I'm too lazy... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif )/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have been very pleased with the KL1. I hope SF makes the KL4 with the same care and craftsmanship. But I wish SF would take some positive steps to get out from underneath this "backlog".

Simplify the product line, reduce the amount of machining on the lights, go to a single finish of black HA3 or something.

tell me too. I am also as lazy as b@rt, if not more /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

too hungry to work, too lazy to eat.

Why do I continue to see posts about the KL4? Nobody has *any* solid information whatsoever; this 'speculation' (read: guesses...) only make people annoyed that they won't be able to buy one any time in the near future.

I could add my rather poorly educated guess about the KL4, but what's the point? And what's the point about 'wishing' for a particular feature?

SureFire is the absolute MASTER of delayed release(s) of products; crap, they can't even seem to get the E-series clickie tailcaps into production (which I am guessing will make the V82 holster too short for an E2e with one on it, but then, I'm only guessing, which is absolutely pointless, of course.)

What I do know is that SureFire doesn't even make a holster for an E2e with a KL1, or for the A2, and hasn't even announced any plans to make them.

My feeling is that SureFire should provide essential accessories for products *already* in production, rather than concentrating on introducing new products. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif

But that's just *my* opinion, which is just as worthless as all of the speculation about the KL4. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Just wait. Period.

i m really hope it can be come out with SE or HD + reflector combination. Dont like NX05 much. Oh... but i just that it is not possible...it must come with optics

SureFire's 5W are reflector based beams.

The machining makes no real difference from what I could tell. The turning centre was the most impressive manufacturing set-up I've ever seen. Thoses CNC machines make light work of SureFire's stylish designs.

Al, do you know if the reflectors are parabolic or straight (like the McFlood)?

Hey,

The one I didn't see had a flexible parabolic membrane; 1 degree to 25 degree! New 3M reflective material with 110% light transmission! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The one I DID see had a very nice deep reflector that filled completely with phosphor gold when you stared right down the center. I think I saw the one Jeff saw; I recognized his thumb print on the lens. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As televangelists are wont to say, "Ah have SEEN the light!" And it is a Lambertian. Scalloped edge bezel. Lockout tailcap. No optics but instead a nice, deep, parabolic reflector. Big, white (and I mean white) semi-flood of light, no hotspot, unless you count the whole thing. The reflector's surface is textured, with no artifacts to speak of...I can't say more (nor do I know, anyway).

Hopefully, the parabolic reflector can get the 5Ws to look like SF's "every other" beam... No rings and a wall of light....

......Heat will be an issue for extended run times but I suspect that in most cases, the KL series will not be the kind of light that is run for those lengths of time....

Don,

I look for relatively long runtimes in my EDC LED lights because they are my general use, walking, hiking lights and I don't use them in anything like a tactical capacity. My three favorites as of now are the ARC LS1/2AA lithium, UBH/KL1 and the Illuminator.

I see the LS4 as an entirely different animal, hopefully a LED substitute for a 2x123 incandescent. As such, I don't expect a long runtime, especially in light of the still quite low efficiency of LEDS.

I've more or less given up on SF predictability, though I still drool along with everyone at the prospect of new lights.
