Which of the Surefire LED lights has the tightest spot or do I have to go to one of their incandescents to have this?

I think the Surefire L6 has the tightest spot, since it has the largest diameter reflector and deepest reflector.

How much output do you need? The new KL1 has a very tight hotspot with nearly zero sidespill. The new KL1 uses a LuxIII emitter. I think it puts out about 15 lumens but it really throws those lumens out there. The 1st decision you'll need to make is how much output do I need? Then once that has been narrowed down you can pick the light with the tightest hotspot.

Of my KL4 and L6, the L6 definitely has the tighter spot. Not much added light output (as I understand it and I am DEFINITELY a newbie here) as compared to the KL4. I think given the size of the L6, I'd rather just keep the KL4 in my pocket.

I can hardly notice any difference between my L5 and L6 as far as throw or output. Perhaps on the darkest of nights, the L6 might put out a bit more light and throw a bit further, but to my eyes, it's a draw.

The new KL1 I just got definitely has an impressive hotspot. Haven't had the chance to try it outside in the dark yet. Light output is not near the L5 or L6 though.

Don't own the x200 yet, but it sounds very cool. . .

Of any one LED only, The L6 does it best. Only the 5- 3watt Luxeon Pentalux can clobber it but its a 3 D size MAG coversion- much larger. The L6 is a bit big for a pocket light be VERY nice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My experience is different than yours. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif For my L5 and L6, I can see a marked difference in terms of throw. Overall output, they are very similar. But the L6 has a tighter hotspot that is quite noticeable.

The L5 is more like my L4, but with a wee bit of a hotter hotspot.
