Noticed on Surefire's site they have bumped up the x300 from 110 to 170 lumens, not sure if the 170 lumen version is shipping yet though.

Has anyone modded an x300 yet to put a brighter drop-in inside one ?
If so, please share your thoughts.

I'm not sure if the x300 switch could handle a P7 or SST-50 type LED but might be able to handle something like an XP-G R5.
Plus you have to take recoil into consideration, the LED should be able to stand up to a beating. Not sure how the x300
manages recoil but there has to be a brighter LED out there that would fit the bill.

Kind of an expensive mod to fry a switch on so figured I'd ask if anyone here has successfully modded an x300 yet.

I've done several X200's mods.
Can't imagine the X300 would be too difficult, but I could be wrong.
The X300 should be using the same TIR optic as the KX1/KX2/KX2C/& E2DL. I've modded a few E2DL's with an XP-G and the beam pattern changes a bit.
It is a bit brighter, but it will not have as tight of a hot-spot as the heads listed above.
Are you looking for higher output or more throw?

Just looking for a higher output, throw isn't a big concern for me in a weapon light mounted on a G19.

Thank you for the links to your threads, those seem fairly straight forward to do in the x200. I'm wondering if the x300 is constructed similar to the x200 though.

Have you tested any of the new emitters under recoil yet ?

I have not tried them while shooting.

The X200 with the Seoul was sold to a friend who uses it as a helmet light for riding his motorcycle at night.

The C/P/D mod was sent back to the owner and have not heard anything, so it seems it should be fine.

Using arctic alumina adheasive provides a secure mounting for the emitter so that it will not come separated from the heatsink under recoil.

I have yet to actually see an X300 in person, so I don't know exactly how it comes apart.

If you want more output, the XP-G might be what you are looking for since you are not concerned with throw.
