Surface mounting a bare XPL

Hi all,
I have an old e-series drop in that I dropped a long time ago and have decided to attempt attaching a new LED in place of the missing one. I would like to try a HI XPL. Any ideas of attachment or where to solder the leads?

I ask because the XPL's seem to take up the whole pad, is there a contact on the top side?

I have some Eccobond 56C, will that work for attachment?
