T-9 and 18650

Anyone know what would happen if you used an 18650 in a T9? From what I have read I know you are not supposed to, but I can't find out why.

A 18650 just wont work in the SE T-9 with a P7, you can try it, I did t doesn't hurt the light. I have a older T-9 with a cree that will take the 18650.
