sorry for the long title, it should have been even longer (e-series tactical gripper/tailswitch guard/acessory thing), but that wouldn't fit in the title line /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

anyway, this is a piece that's been in existance for some time, but just got it back from the annodyzers after about 8 months.

the goal was to create something that made a shroud over the button of my e2e to help prevent accidental activation. this was especially a concern since i am using a modified kroll as the z52's guts. this mod has since become obsolete in the shroud area (with the advent of my r52), but now that is at the annodyzers, and this is kind of nifty too.

and here are some pics, staring out with my extensively modified superfire (there is still more room for modding, which will get done eventually /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ):

here is the tg/ts/at itself:

it also works on kroll based lights (minimag, streamlight, etc), though it doesn't work well, as the rubber is the only thing holding it on. waterproofness is likely affected also:

unfortunately, it doesn't work that well in tailshroud mode, becaues the oring must be removed to get it on (it might be possible to put the oring back on afterwards, but this would be difficult), and it's hard to screw the tailcap in afterwards (though not as hard as i origionally thought it might be). also, when i made it i tested it with the kroll innards, not surefire innards, so it will only work with a clicky mod (maybe with the z57, i'm not sure) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

in tacticalgrip mode, it works very well. putting it on is easy. just remove oring, put it on, and replace oring. then screw the switch down. again, this only works with the kroll mod.

aside from the modes, the thing itself has 4 4-40 tapped holes, to facilitate the titanium clip in 6 different positions.
2 6-32 tapped holes to facilitate a brass button or similar item (i don't have a set screw for the brass button, so had to dig through my screw drawer to find a 6-32 screw, as you can see it was a little too long /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
has 2 1/4-20 tapped ports for using camera attachments or similar. it also has a big hole for attaching a lanyard or something of that nature.

the stock e2e clip has also been drilled and tapped to use a brass button. i'm not sure why i'd need a light with 3 brass buttons, 2 camera attachments, a lanyard, and room for 3 clips at a time, but it's nice to know i can if i need it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

update as of about 2 hours later /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
i've been using and carrying this in the abovemention state right now (with the pr 5w hed, and using it in taiswitch shroud mode and carrying it with the bezeldown clip), and i really like it. it isnt' as bulky as it looks, it's very ergonomic, and bezeldown really suits this light well!
i think bezeldown carry is better suited to the smaller diameter head of the stock e2e head, but i ain't going back /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
fortunatly, i got other pieces back from the annodyzer as well, and included in them were more heads! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

to be honest, i like this thing better than i thought i would!

Hey Roth! How bout sending some over for testing? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I promise to give a completely unbiased review. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i'll think about it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Very nice work Roth.
Great to see this become a finished piece.
Looks VERY versatile.

Couple questions...
What up with the 3 foot screw hanging out the side? Just havent cut it down to size yet?

And... what in the hell did you do to your mouse? Try to add alittle more grip or something? LOL

yea ticey, that's exactly what i did to the mouse.
the thing was very slippery...................but it isn't anymore! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

if you'd have read my post, you'd have seen that i mentioned that i didnt have the proper screw, so had to dig through my archives to find a 6-32 one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif

looks a lot better annodyzed doesn't it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
for anyone interested, here and here are some pics of it before it was annodyzed, and before some finishing tweaks were added (slimmer, more rounded, etc)
i didn't post them here because they're huge

ok a suggestion for your next project /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A similar device that can be fitted to the Arc4 and allow it to stand on it's tail.

I can see a lot of demand for this one...

buy me an arc4 (with knurling please), and i'll make you 10 of them! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

actually ray, i've given it passing thought while reading people saying they want one, and have thought about both a cradle-like design that you just set the light on, and a more permanent design.

in the past i have made delrin pieces to slide over the end of lights and have a tight enough friction fit that they stay in place and allow them to stand on end, but they can be bulky and unsightly. i suppose that the since the tail of the arc4 is smaller in diameter anyway this might not be as much of an issue as it is in other lights.

Sorry still working on my own Arc4 fund at the moment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
