I've searched and I can't find a thread to either make one or buy one. I've got very used to the kroll on the minimag, I'd like something similar on the big ones.

help appreciated...

thanks!

Mac makes Mag D tailswitches.
It's not that hard to do with simple tools , except for the boot - if you want to use the stock mag boot you'll need a very accurate hole.
The switch to get is a Judco. Rated 10A 14V.

Here's a Judco in my homemade mag switch replacement:

This was just a temporary job I have not got around to putting a Judco in.
Has a momentary switch:

Plan is to use a DX / Kai rubber boot and glue the boot.
That green disc is circuit board. The underneath has the copper still in and it makes contact with the tailcap where the spring normally makes contact.

I have a Mac tailcap , the shelf that the spring sits on looks like it has been machined so his equivalent disc sits a bit lower. It has a circlip above to retain it. (Mine is just a press fit) Mac also cuts an acurate hole to allow use of the stock Mag rubber boot.

You'll find Mac here if you did not know:

i think it is only reasonable to have tail switch if the size is below 2D. The side switch is there for practical reason. Well that doesn't mean you cant do it :p

Actually... having an dual position switch in the rear of a Maglite would allow you to create a 2 mode output variant (incan OR LED), that's kinda' cool really! :D

I have lots of options, depending on which way I want to go.

One is to use a vandal resistant IP6x switch. Running a Maxflex, this would be enough, as I simply need to short to - to trigger. That would also enable a "position light".

Another is to use the Judco idea above, running several amps. That would be pretty cool for the 1D, which will run a Fatman. I'd like, though to enable tailstanding on that.

I have to think some more and maybe contact mac when I've worked out what exactly I want :D
