Having read through most of the write-ups about the 007, I knew that it was a fantastic design. And even though it seemed bullit-proof, I wasn't quite convinced.

So, about two weeks ago, my wife decided to do something completely against her better judgement and wash my jeans. I don't know about your wives (or significant others), but mine does not check pockets when she does laundry. She just throws everything in and doesn't think twice.

Well, the night before I had carried my Spy 007 around and did not take it out of my pocket. So, it got a nice wash and a spin job. I happened to transfer the clothes from the wash to the dryer and noticed a hunk of Ti sitting in the bottom. "Hmmm, looks OK," I thought. I popped the bottom off and there was a small amount of condensation in the inside, so I let it air-dry overnight. The next day I popped in a fresh set of batteries, and it started right up, although a little off-beat.

It would start at level 2, then 3, then 1, then 4, then 5 & 6. There was some noticeable glitch that kept on happening, so I did a reset & calibration and it still did the same thing. "Crap, I hope Dave can fix this." I thought.

Since I was leaving town to take a vacation, I left the Spy open in my drawer for about a week. When I got home, Dave had left me an e-mail saying to open it up and set it someplace warm. I wrote back and told him it had been dry for a while and still acting up, but I hadn't turned it on since getting back from Florida.

Well, that night a new set of batteries went in, a reset & calibration was performed, and back to normal! No glitch, no problems! All right!

Thanks Dave for building a solid-as-a-rock light that can take a thunderstorm, or at least my wife's laundry!

My wife has the same "glitch" when it comes to laundry. WTH? So far it's just been kleenex, chapstick and starburst, but she's bound to get one of my torches eventually. Glad yours came through okay. Good to know moisture apparently only seeped into the battery compartment and not around the emitter.

Joseph,

I was really hoping for a gruesome story of how it was accidentally left tethered to your back bumper and when you finally realized your mistake there was nothing left but the lanyard. :poof:  That could make a good light show in of itself.

If water gets on the resistor bridge it will trick the uP. The light usually still comes on but acts like it has had a bit to much to drink. :grin2:

Cheers
Dave

I ruined a few items and washed my wallet a few times and now I'm a lot better about checking my pockets b4 the wash.

This is good advice b4 giving stuff to goodwill, too. I have found money inside pockets at goodwill, but never a 800$ flashlight.
