I saw these at Cabela's today:

I especially like the little V16. Cabela's wanted $13 for theirs, but I found them on the Net for about $9. The batteries are BR435:

Cabela's was charging about $3 each for these. I found them for as low as $2 on the Net.

Are these lights any good for anything?

Does anyone know of good sources for the lights and batteries?

Thanks,

Chuck

Greetings Chuck,

I've seen all 3 of these lights at Target. They appear to be well made; however, I would be a little
apprehensive about buying them because half the time the lights don't work. The batteries are already
installed and you can access the on button right thru the packaging. Some of them will light, but some
of them won't.

Some sporting goods and fishing stores have the BR435 batteries. They are used in some lighted lures and bobbers.

I found some of the illuminated lures you were talking about. I used to be a fanatic bass fisherman, so that is interesting.

Yes, they do look well-made, and they feel well-made in your hand. The big one is very heavy for it's size, and the little switch feels good. However, the output with 3 LEDs was not as good as my McLux with a Q3.

The output of the little V16 that I had in my hand was very dim, but maybe that was because the battery was low.

I was wondering if anyone had some experience with the V16, and maybe know where to get a good deal on the batteries.

Thanks for the replies,

Chuck

Hello Chuck.

These are all LedLenser lights from Zweibrueder Optoelectronics. I have done a comprehensive review of all their lights
here

The V16 is a very nice and stylish little light wich is indeed not too bright when compared to, say the Arc AAA (see beamshots in the above mentioned thread). It's main advantages are the small size and cool styling, you can carry it everywhere and it never looks odd. I do appreciate the dim output since I use mine to exaqmine the eyes of my patients. I never had to replace the batteries for 18 months now.

The V2 Triplex is rather bright for just three LEDs, but can ofcourse never compete against a LS light.

bernhard,

You put a lot of work into that review. Thank you very much for bringing it to my attention. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

You bviously are as taken by the stylishness of these lights as I am. They look and feel great. I came very close to buying the V16 yesterday. I just was not pleased with the output. I had to ask myself if I would actually carry it instead of a brighter one. (You can just imagine the two voices in my head arguing...)

I can see that the V16b would work very well for you in examining patients - it's not so bright that it would stimulate the "punch-the-doctor" response. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks again for all the hard work!

did some one say there sold at target.and did ya mean online or at the real store?

Chuck, I honestly do not think that you'd EDC the V16, you're a flashaholic, and that has something to do with power!
This light is more for the non-flashaholic or design-lovers or very limited applications like I use it for.

On the other hand ... yesterday I had to go to the qwedding party of a friend, alnd my wife FORBID me to come with a flashlight! It would disturb the look of a smoking and I would put shame on her ... oh boy, the pain!
As a compromise, I chose the V16 as my only equipment being acceptable for it's style. Almost no light is better then no light at all.
Thanx god there was no power outage! That would really have been a flashaholic's nightmare ...

bernard,

You hit on a point here. Yes, I like a light to have power, but I also very much appreciate good design. I was discussing this very problem with my wife. Even though the V16 is not very bright, it is really cool looking.

I am a lucky man. Carol has no problem with me buying anything I want. So, I have to discipline myself. That is very difficult! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

The diameter is only large enough to enclose the LED.

The battery is really weird looking. It reminds me of a blasting cap with only one lead.

Chuck

yes, it is VERY slim. It uses two of those batteries in series, the "male" end of one battery fits in the "female" end of the second.
bernhard

well im going to target tomorow to look at one and may get it and the one with the lux to
