I am going to update my 3D Maglite and am looking at the Tektite LS4 any opinions and or suggestions?

Thanks, I know I'm a Noob, but this old geezer still got a little fight left in him:)

Wow! that ended abbruptly

poop! now what ? I was kinda liking the stats on that LS4

I'll be honest, I only have the experience of the one product, which doesn't include the LS4. Hopefully someone chimes in who has.

From what I've heard about the LS4... It's a very stout light. I posted on the other thread and had a bad experience with the SeaRay12. Tektite owned up to the bad run of them. They get credit for that in my book.

Tektite stuff is very tough and well made, if a bit old fashioned and on the expensive side for what you get. I have several of them (not the LS4) and I like them a lot.

Tektite make some interesting products. I spent a lot of time looking at the specs for different flashlights that they make because I like their basic philosophy, which is to make them very waterproof and tough.

however, for general purpose flashlights they need to make serious improvements before they are competitive.

The LS4, for example, is very heavy and achieves very low lumen ratings (both for overall and for throw) given the weight; also, runtime is not exactly stellar. The reason is that they still use a Luxeon-III (not even a K2, much less a CREE).

Plus, they tend to be expensive - e.g., they have lights with multiple-LEDs (don't know why they favor that formfactor) - just check out how much they cost and you'll see what I mean.

Overall, I'd like to own some of their products, but not before they start using the latest high efficiency LEDs - I hope they do so soon.
