Having watched many of the crime shows CSI, CSI Miami, NCIS it has struck me that they all seem to use flashlights when examining a crime scene.

This would seem to be a good place for a company such as ARC to showcase some of their lights. Offer the producers some lights for free in exchange for exposure on the show.

I don't know what they are currently using (Streamlight, SureFire?) but the lights they are using seem to be very bright and fairly small.

The Arc4 Forensics Kit is an ideal candidate for what you suggest. However, it has a problem in that it's not as large and showy as something like a SureFire M4, a characteristic which I would think a TV producer would want in order to make the show more intense.

I think they use Scorpions because I've seen them turning on the lights and they look like a clickie tailcap but not to to twist it, anyway are "incand" with very fresh batteries, very bright but not as a led one....I would suggest having a kit of 4+, (white and blue).

The lights that they use are not very large and appear to be AA or Lithium from the size. Nothing in the C and D type lights. The scenes not very bright or are made to appear that way. It would not take much of a light to really stand out.

I did see them use a forensics sort of light one time with what looked like blue LED's (at least on my TV). They had the orange glasses that are required when using a forensics kit so at least the producers knew something.

Does anyone here (CPF) have an "in" with the prop department of any of these studios? If people see a bright little Arc on the boob toob, they're sure to want one.

It would be a big coup for this little company in Arizona that I've heard of......

The problem I see is that the shots of characters using flashlights are usually quick, and they never show closeups of the light. I've often seen shows where I've wondered "hey, what's that light he's using?" but there's no way to identify it. Unless it's very unique, like the Inova X5 spotted on 24 a few weeks back. Easy to identify the 5 LED pattern. But the only reason I knew who made it is because I have one in my stable, the average Joe wouldn't be able to tell.

They would have to somehow get a closeup of the light, in someone's hand, with the ARC logo visible. And of course a nod to ARC in the credits...

how would anyone watching the show know what the light was? i don't think ppl recognize any of the Surefires or Streamlights.

that's just the actual equipment some of those departments use..

i thought, anyways.

X5 UV was also on CSI as well. I forget which season, the episode where Grimson swabs Greg's foot with something and later takes a peak with his X5 UV light.

Actually I have seen very blatant tactical product recognition shots in TV Shows. For example, a recent episode of Alias had Vaughn drawing his sidearm. The camera spun around and zoomed all the way into the side so you could read the model and manufacturer (HK 45ACP I think). It stayed there for a good 2 seconds before it zoomed out.

Actually the lights they have used most recently on CSI are Surefire M4's. Although they must use a weaker bulb in them. Using one to read a piece of paper is a bit overkill! (Ahhh, it burns!!!) SL Scorpions have also been spotted in various episodes.

I was watching the antique show with the two brothers and they were looking under a large high boy. One of the brothers whips out his ARC LS and starts shining it around under the furniture.
