These shots were just so everyone can see what the TLE-300 looks like outdoors. Yes, I do know there was a ton of ambient light all over the place but I was at work and thats the best I can do.

My first thoughts are the TLE-300 is not putting out 500 lumens, more like 300 lumens to my eyes. The three blocks of the optic's are visible indoors and outdoors at long range it is not bad at all to me, meaning I do not mind it.

I'm running it in a 2D Mag with a LuxLuthor 6AA Eneloop pack. I'm pretty darn impressed with this simple drop-in. It is very bright and is as some said a Surefire L4 on serious steriods (I would say brighter). It is very bright and when aiming it at one vehicle to light it up it is no problem to light up the other three in the area.

I would say it is worth the price and it putting out some serious lumens. It has decent throw with good spill. I like it and think it is a winner.

This is not a review just some beamshots to check out.

From a previous review, some reported lens rattle... Duh due to the absence of the mag reflector. Anyway I just got a lens from flashlightlens
to fit Maglite's measuring 3mm thick UCL. Might solve the rattle?:sssh:

Looks promising. Have you done any long time runs? I'm curious to see if there's a heat protection circuit there. How's the heatsinking done?

@Jvalera:

I have a borofloat lens in there and yes it does have a rattle but I simply put another o-ring in place and she it good to go now. If you have a 3mm thick UCL that should be fine.

@greenLED:
I have not done a run time test on it yet, I have only had it for a day now. The heat sink is something I really want to get into and see what she can handle. I will try to do a test Tuesday or sometime next week and see what she can do.

For a TerraLUX to put out this much light, I'm pretty impressed. Yes, the beam is somewhat ugly indoors but outdoors she is simply a monster drop-in.

I will post run time results as soon as I can get them done. :thumbsup:

Fairly impressive for a drop in but I would expect it to be close its stated output with 6 cells. Too bad that isn't the case. Maybe a heat sinking issue once again?

Thanks for the quick review and beamies

Well my lumen guesstimation, is based on lights I have that put out 500 lumens very easily. I know it says to run it threw a 4-6D mag, but with 6 AA Eneloop fully loaded there should be no difference.

But like I said, for the price $94.00 at some online dealers I feel it is a great deal.

djblank87: Are you using a Borofloat lens or UCL with the TLE-300?

600lumens is only achieved if each emitter is being driven at 1amp. But I doubt that, each K2 is more likely being driven at 500mah.

So 300 bulb-lumens sounds realistic, still, a darn good upgrade below $100 for 4-6 cell maglites.

I'm using a Borofloat lens in there and the 6AA Eneloop battery pack. It is a mighty little package and darn bright outside.

For those wishing to learn more about the TLE-300, check out the link below. (Not trying to hijack the thread. Sorry if it looks that way).

Yeah Monocrom,
I knew about that thread but since it (That Thread) turned into a pissing match about pictures, camera setting and so on I thought I would just leave that one alone.

But it is good to add to this thread because at least people can see what else it out there. :thumbsup:

You're right about how that thread degraded. Seemed to happen out of left field. But there was still enough useful info. that I figured it would be a good idea to post the link for those who might have missed it.

Thanks for understanding why I provided the link. :)

Regarding lense rattle with the TLE-300's - the next batch will include an o-ring that will resolve that minor issue. I believe the o-ring will also work retroactively and if so will be offered at N/C. We'll have full details in ~2 weeks.

MattK,
I really like this sucker and for the rattle, I just superglued the darn lens in there, simple and effective if you have a whole mess of mag parts and borofloat lens's all over.

:grin2:

Hi MattK:

Will there be a Cree or SSC version of the TLE-300???:)

Interesting, the indoor beam shot doesn't look nearly as bad as the one from the other thread. Any idea on the runtime from the eneloops?
