How many volts can a TerraLux TLE-6EXB (this is the one for 2-3 D cells) handle? I have a a 14.4 volt Black & Decker light that came with a drill. This light is so yellow and dull it makes me sick... It need to be moded.

Well I know the bulb is very similar to the stock bulb in the Mag lights. I tried an old incandecent Mag bulb in it and it fits but blew almost instantly. I am wondering if I can throw a terrLUX in there and at $25. each would rather not fry it..

Thanks,
Chuck

The 6EXB is rated for 3 cell, or 3x1.5v = 4.5v max. They do make a 6-cell version for 9v. However, the TerraLux dropin is for MagLite only, as it won't fit a standard PR bulb socket.

I do not think there is a LED drop in that goes up to 14.4V. Best I can find is 12V. Not sure it can take 14.4V.

Note that LEDs are polarity sensitive. Bottom contact must be connected to positive for the superbrightleds bulb. Check polarity of your light socket before buying any LED bulb!

I think you may have better luck asking in the incandescent forum for a better replacement for your current bulb.

I have the TLE-6EXB and it looks like it will fit. Thanks to both of you. There has to be a way to mod this thing..

I will have to keep looking..
