After much research and advice from all of you here at CPF I ordered a QAA2 a few minutes ago with priority shipping. I'm hoping it will be here early next week.
I had been wanting a new EDC light so I could give my L1Tv2 to my wife (although I have an aunt who already said she'd like to have it) and had been planning on getting a QAA and using a 14500 in it. I had been considering a NiteCore SmartPD D10 as well, but for an EDC light I prefer a floodier beam and the Quarks definitely are floodier from what I've seen on the beamshots here on CPF.
Anyway, since the price for the QAA2 was virtually identical to the QAA, and I don't have the extra jack for the 14500's and charger right now, I thought I'd increase my versatility by getting the QAA2 now, and ordering a 1xAA body and the rechargeables and charger in a month or so. Once I get those then I can Lego it into either configuration as I need; 1xAA for EDC and 2xAA when necessary. I'm doing a Cub-scout leader training session in two weeks (I'm the den leader for my son's cub-scout webelos den this year) and I'm looking forward to pulling out my new QAA2 on the overnight training and blowing some people's minds with it...
Thanks again everyone for all your advice and wisdom. I'm really looking forward to getting my new torch and having a bit of fun with it.
