Today, I am here to tell you about the scariest moment of my (flashaholic) life. Brace yourself guys, this isn't a story for the faint of heart..

:aaa:

Like any normal Friday, I geared up my light carry pockets and my Addidas sack pack as I prepared to head to my tennis match. I walked out the door and hit the well trodden route down the street to the bus stop that would take me into the city and to my tennis team. I had no idea that today would be much, much different. I was running slightly late, and as I reached the last city block of my walk, the bus appeared at the traffic light up the street and I thus had to run as fast as I could to the stop. I fortunately made the bus, and after getting on, paying the driver, and settling down into my seat, I checked my pockets to make sure my cell phone and Ra Clicky 140C where safely in my pocket. My cell phone was there, but as I reached into my pocket where the Clicky resides, but to my immediate fright and dismay IT WAS NOT THERE.
:duck:It must have slipped out of my shallow pockets on the dash to the bus, I thought. I gotta get back to the stop!!

I immediately signaled the driver to let me off at the next stop, and I was fortunate enough to see a bus going back towards my original stop at the corner I jumped out from. I made the best time possible back towards the bus stop, and got out still in a state of horrified stupor and shock. After all, I had been supremely careful with my precious lights, and even more so my crown jewel Ra Clicky. I suffered from horrendous visions of cars and trailer trucks running over my poor Clicky (although I am sure it could have taken it) had it rolled into the street. I began a frantic search along the walking route to see if I could find it. "I sure am lucky it is high noon" I thought, because if it was night and I was just stuck with my Arc-P AAA (yes, a shameless plug of my EDC and the two is one rule) it would have been nearly impossible to find. I began a slow and deliberate search of my pathway from my house to the bus stop, my heart sinking with every empty square foot I found.

The seemingly long walk (which is only about 5 minutes by slow pace in reality) yielded nothing, and I returned to my house practically non functioning. My 4 hard months of saving $180 for the most expensive item I had ever purchased might be down the drain in an instant. I could think of nothing but finding my Clicky, and my last hope was that perhaps I had forgotten to pocket it before leaving for the bus. I slowly trod the steps to my room, dreading what scene would greet me. As I slowly opened the door to my room, to my surprise and joyous celebration, MY RA CLICKY WAS SITTING SAFELY ON MY DESK!!!!  :twothumbs: Words cannot describe how I felt at this moment, but it can be closest described as extreme relief and happiness. My crown jewel and beloved EDC was found safe and sound, and I was finally reunited after years (or so the short time seemed) of being apart.

I felt like sharing this with the group, because only all of you would appreciate the fear and anguish I felt in the moment I reached into the empty pocket, but more so, you would appreciate the joy I experienced when recovering the light safe and sound. lovecpf

Thanks for taking the time to read my crazy story.

 ! So glad you didn't get the clickie run over. I know how you must have felt. Happy to know it is still safe and sound.

Glad to hear that bro.
But in a way, to avoid the constant fear of losing it, maybe you should EDC something cheaper.
EDC's tend to get lost, abused etc.
Just my 2 cents.

Great story. I think we have all done the same thing at some stage in the past. I EDC a Clicky 140 Cn that has cost me a bundle with the Ti clip and all! It is funny that although I EDC it everyday, some mornings I still forget to pocket it and end up having to go back in side to retrieve it before driving to work.

P.S. Did the joy and relief of finding the Clicky at home safe and sound help you win the tennis match?:)

(Heart pumping fast)...I "Lost" my G3L a few months back, and for about 1 month straight, I would find myself going on miniature search missions for it...after 2-3 months of this, I figured it was gone for good, and came to the realization that i would just eventually have to buy another :(. No one in the family knowing my grief, my daughters were cleaning there room the other day, and my wife walks out non-chalantly, "The girls found this in there room"...and there was my G3L...safe and sound...I tried not to show my entusiasm, as they would have thought I was nuts...:sssh:

Great story by the way!!!

Get a lanyard, tether and clip it to ur waist belt or belt loop. I have my milky strapped to my pack or belt loop so such things won't happen if i make a dash for the bus :)

No one one here seems to care about the fate of your tennis match! Did your tennis team just have to suffer without you?

Don't keep us in suspense!

m16a, I know exactly how you felt!

Last year, my fiancée and I were vacationing in Virginia Beach where I had a very similar experience. No matter where I go, I always have my SF E1B clipped to my pocket, bezel down. I ALWAYS have a flashlight on me along with other EDC items.

We were sitting along a planter watching a street show along Atlantic Ave. and when it was finished, we got up, and after walking a block or two I realized my precious E1B wasn't in my pocket

We immediately walked back to where we were sitting (think that it must have fallen out of my pocket somehow) and searched the area but didn't find anything. I then began to worry that someone might have seen the pocket clip on the outside of my pocket and might have swiped it thinking it was a knife or something. Atlantic Ave. of VB during the summer if very crowded, so this scenario didn't seem too unlike.

We then immediatedly went back to our hotel where I found my E1B laying on the bed next to my backpack and computer bag. :)

One time I thought I had left my E1B in my pants pocket and lost the light at the laundry mat. Went back, looked for it with no luck, and then tore apart the bedroom and pulled all cushions from the furniture in the living room.

It was a good 15 minutes later when my GF walked into the bedroom with it in her hand. It was in the bathroom on the sink counter behind something. I took it out the night before while using the restroom and one of the cats knocked it behind a tissue dispenser.

I know some folks like a small edc that is so light you don't feel its weight in a pocket, but I'm liking a larger light for the opposite reason. While I like carrying my E1B clipped inside my left front pocket bezel down, I can't feel it. I laid on my couch for a couple hours last night and when I got up my light was laying on the middle cushion. I wouldn't have known it was gone had I not seen it.

I bought an L1 a couple weeks ago and while it is big for a single cell, I can feel that it is no longer in my pocket when I take it out.

Just after the SF released the Aviator, I bought one. Had it exactly one week clipped to me belt, when it went AWOL. Retraced my steps all over Tucson. Nada. Bought another the same day. Never trusted a pocket clip after that.
Glad your story had a happy ending.

I am fully confident that if it did fall from your pocket, and rolled into the street and got run over by 30 cars, and 4 large trucks it would have survived and would have had no problems functioning properly.

But, I am glad it was safely on your desk. I know how it feels to lose something you've saved up for months to get. When I was younger and didn't make much $$, I use to save up for months for stuff and when it went missing (or got stolen) it was like the end of the world had come.

This is why i holster anything bigger then a L0D sized light. Invest in a good holster witha velcro top. You wont risk losing the light that way :)

It's not a bad idea to wrap a little piece of paper with a phone number on it -- there are still some honest people in the world. If I found a light with no way of knowing how to it back to the owner, then it's mine, but if there was a phone number in it (which I would find fairly quickly as I checked the light out), well ... every time I turned it on it would light up Jiminy Cricket wagging his finger at me. I'd make the phone call. Maybe most people would.

I have considered that, but in my mind, the pros of such an awesome flashlight still outweigh the cons of losing it. I generally have a good track record with my valuables as well.

Don't keep us in suspense!

The public transportation service in the Philadelphia area is awesome, and I managed to get a later bus about 15 minutes later (Clicky safely in hand the ride down down BTW ) so I got to my match about 20 minutes later than I wanted and before the visiting team even arrived. Subconsciously, I am sure that the joy helped me, but the fact that we were a superior team also helped us win the match (and my individual match as well)

I have often considered doing this, however, I really don't have a usable method for doing so. If anyone has a reliable method they use, I would be quite happy to hear about it!

Glad to see it isn't an isolated case, I am sure it had happened, but nice to hear it. Also glad that people understand how it is to someone younger like myself! As for the Clicky, I was pretty sure of that too, and yet, even though it can take it, do we really want it going through such trying circumstances to prove it?

Virtually all my lights have holsters (no velcro, some have snaps & some are just help in tightly). Many of the holsters made by Hogokansatsukan. Search my posts for my review - lots of pics.

Hmm, haven't figured out how to do multiple quotes.

On some lights I've put a label on the inside with my contact info w/REWARD on it. Some lights the label won't stick so I put it on the battery.

Thinking the same but it's just a 50€ Quark, is it possible to carve name and phonenumber to HAIII aluminium?

I hate when that happens... Just for that reason I don't get pants with shallow or loose pockets that stuff can fall out of.

And I see a lost piece of equipment as a great excuse to buy a newer, better one! :D

Dennis.

Glad it worked out! That is one of the advantges to keychain carry.
I used to EDC a Fenix P1 D CE on my keys. It was always there when I needed it. (most keychain carry EDC applications are outside the home).

What a great feeling to see your primo light home safe and sound.:grin2:

If if carried a RA I it would fit comfortably in an "AW holster".
That's how I'll EDC my Quark neutral CR123:twothumbs

lighten up...Its just a flashlight
at least you didn't get to where your going and realized you have someone else's wallet and your wearing your room mates pants:ohgeez:

Whew!!! I hate that feeling!! I am glad that you found it safe and sound at home.
