There is blackout in my workplace now

You have a blackout, but your comp still works? Well, maybe you're on your mobile. Anyhow, have a blast! I can't wait for my next blackout. I don't think they happen often enough for us flashaholics :D

one thing i noticed from this blackout is, my EZAA flickers if i leave it on high for too long.. hopefully is not permanent damage. i had it turned off and am using a 5mm LED cheapo light now. :shakehead

odd..
that doesn't sound normal.
I've kept my ezaa on for extended periods of time.. maybe the battery is low?

.
Now you will soon be known around work as "the flashlight geek"
.

P.S. / always carry a spare battery.

I love blackouts especially at night. Had one the same day my TK12 arrived so I immediately got to test it out. :twothumbs 5 lumens lighting up the bathroom while I took a shower. Last night we had another blackout so I had dinner under 5 lumens of light - more than enough to eat fish without getting boned - no pun intended - (wish I had a diffuser for situations like that but you can always improvise).

That same night (lights still out) I went outside and saw my neighbors playing with their cute keychain leds (probably powered by those button-type batteries) at one point flashing them in my direction, so I switched my TK12 to 225 lumen "Turbo" and pretended to search my garden for something because I didn't want to show off or blind them :grin2:

i dunoe.. is it supposed to flicker when battery is low? but it did run about 30mins on high though.. then i turned it to low.. then it flickered a bit regardless of high or low, so i turned it off. im gonna pop in fresh cells when im home.

what type of cells are you running?
if you're using alkaline.. that sounds about right. they don't perform well under high current draws.

nimh are much better :)

for eneloop runtimes.

Blackouts rarely happen where I live/work, there's a major telephone company's central office for my town on my street, so the power is always on. Oh well, can't wait for camping next spring/summer where there's NO power, a flashaholic's dream! But that's not to say that I'm not prepared. I have a diffuser tip for my EDC P2D, and I recycled a plastic medicine tube that fits over my RC-F4 that diffuses the light beautifully. I also have a few TwoFish Lock Blocks that I normally use on my bike, but can also hold a flashlight perfectly on my shower rod in the bathroom for when I do self-induced "power outages" when the mood hits.

It could also be a bad contact. Try cleaning the contacts and see if it still flickers.

i just cleaned the contacts about a week ago.

i was using GP's LSD - Recyko rated 2100nimh. the flickering kicked in only about 30mins later when the light was very hot on high mode.

well, the blackout lasted about 1.5hrs. i ran the EZAA on low for about 10mins and high for about 30mins as i did a ceiling bounce to provide light for some work. for the ceiling bounce, the low was too low but the high could be lower and also for stretching runtime. i always knew i needed a medium mode, but, the size of the EZAA is just perfect for my EDC lovecpf

Woots! finally.. and im lighting the place up with my EZAA. :D

lovecpf

It's not like I sit around hoping for another blackout but let's just say that I am not disappointed that it comes. Sure it is a pain in the @ss but at least it gives me an opportunity to use my flashlights and lanterns in that situation and in addition to the other times I need them. I, like you, have realized the value of the low low on a light (along w/ the long runtime), tailstanding ability and a smooth floody beam.

I'm still waiting for a blackout... :sigh:

We had some power issues at work the other day, but unfortunately working at a gov't research facility means they have a proper emergency power setup and all. We only had power "blips" for a split second when they did some tests... not long enough to really even dim the lights, just enough to shut my computer off. :poof:

I've got three lights in my bag... one day I'll get lucky, one day! :D

i am thinking about scaring the sht out of the security guard one night..

last nite i was last to leave and it was late.. about 23pm the sec guard
came in to chat with me swinging his incan maglite 3d last night while the lights were still ON!

tonite same thing.. i was last to leave.. he came in 1st time at 10pm and said to come by later when i leave to turn the alarms on etc.

i want to show him how weak his incan 3d really is..

i heard him checking the factory in 1st floor as i closed the door behind me in 4th.. the little devil in me thought about going back into the dark huge office right next to the lightswitches (about 20yd from the door) to turn the lights out and then wait him to open the door walk in few steps and using his maglite.. and THEN blast him with full power of my quark or lmini2. hahah.. see if it startles him. i bet it would. he is a young guy.. pretty low risk to die of heart attack if freightened. :)

or should i just let him light our way thru the dark hallway with his mag.. and then take one of my three.. (quark, lmini2 or itp eos) and show him "the light". hah.. see this pinky finger sized thingy.. heheheh and then i got 2 bigger ones with me too. hehehhe.

* should i really put the turbo head on lmini2 for our next encouter.. hheheh*

too bad my mce L2 was stolen.. it would be better.
too bad i dont have a ROP yet.. it would make him look at his light wondering why his is so dim. hahah.

if iam nice i should atleast tell him to buy a led drop in for his maglite for some decent output.

black outs are cool when you are prepared to them.

*tonite i did turn of the lights out a bit early.. and just walked around the office using my flashlights.. (i forgot where i left my baseballcap)*

You definitely need to show him an ROP. However, I don't think scaring a security guard is necessarily the best and safest thing to do...
