I'm looking for a thermal grease that's thin enough to flow into a gap of c. 0.2mm between a round heatsing and a flashlight body. The dx stuff is too thick. Any recommendations ?

Cheers..

If ot flows in, it will flow out too..

Thermal grease is normally used to fill the microscopic imperfections where a heatsink meets the heat source. Thick layers of grease are not good conductors of heat. A small strip of aluminum foil, on the oher hand, might fill that gap.

I have read that Zalman ZM-STG1 is 'thinner' than the competition, but it may still be too thick. Another thing you could try is heating the grease a little to see if that makes it 'thinner'. I suggest beginning by immersing the tube of grease you have in some hot water for a while. Once the grease cools then it should stay in the gap.

I've got the flowing out problem covered. I realise thermal grease isn't the ideal solution but I've tried thermal
tape before and it wasn't good because it contracted away from one of the surfaces. The foil sounds like a good idea tho. I will try heating the grease as well.
