Does anyone make a decent thrower to run on standard batteries? I have looked at the LED lenser range but the opinions seem to be either love or hate so I am a bit uncertain.

A 3 C cell would be good, would that have to be a mag with a drop in of some sort or are there other options?

Olight T25 is a pretty decent thrower off of 2 AA.

Fenix TK20 is 'only' rated at 150 lumens, but another thrower off of 2 AA with an excellent warranty from Fenix-store.com (4sevens).

The Jetbeam Jet I Pro is a very decent 1xAA thrower, very bright but with a good programmable 3 slot UI so you don't have to have it eye searing if you don't want.

Fenix TK20 and Olight T-25 Tactical

The Olight is MUCH lighter

Elektrolumens sells a 3C P7 m@g for $140 plus postage. (right now he is a little too busy making P7 long throws & EDC-P7 to make any)

Here are some beamshots of StefanFS own P7 M@g & Tiablo mods vs assorted P4 & Q5 lights.

Malkoff makes drop ins for 2/3 cell M@gs with lots of throw. Here is Ernsanada's review of Elektrolumens P7 vs Malkoff as well as some other drop ins. (get a 3 cell M@g, with a 2 cell the drop in runs at 1/2 power)

BTW the 3C M@g Elektrolumens built for me uses a proper 3C body. Not that kludgy 2D conversion in Ernsanada's review.

KD has a CHEAP copy of Malkoff's drop in.

Terralux has the TLE-6EXB drop in. This is a simple bulb swap.

Thanks for the suggestions I will do some reading.

Some of the mag lights with modded emitters look awesome and the T25 looks pretty good too.

So I think that the T25 from olight is the way to go but has anything new appeared on the scene for AA throwers?

The lenser still does not seem to have many friends here which is a shame because I love the concept.

I have a dorcy terminator that runs on 6aa's that is quite a thrower, but its really not that great a light.

I've heard good things about the rayovac 4w and the lowes taskforce that both use c batteries.

i agree with Gator the fenix TK20 is a decent thrower on AA batteries you might also want to check out the lowes Taskforce runs on C cell batteries

The 2C XR-E at Lowe's is a pretty decent thrower, especially for the price. :twothumbs
