The TN30 and TN31 look interesting. I am hoping that 75k lux is correct.
 
Maybe it's just me but if you're going to add a side switch it seems for me that it is easier to use if it's up by the head and not back by the tail of the flashlight?
 
Only the price for the TN31, bit high for me. Will cost as much (accordingly gopajti ), as I paid for my TK70. Throw is also most the same, but TK70 has more intensity.
Sure, the TN31 is much smaller, - But I really like mine TK70.

And another thing, the picture says that the TN31 has a diameter of 70mm, but the specs says 79.00mm,- what's correct??

70mm = reflector diameter
79mm = head/bezel diameter
 
I had a fleeting interest in the T20. But from the pictures it looked like it had the foam insert and was a "battery crusher", unlike the excellent T10 which is still never far from my side. Nobody seemed to have any interest in it and I never saw a review. So seeing what looks like the second generation T21 isn't very encouraging either. Everyone seems more interested in the newer humongous lights. Another light they didn't care enough about to tell people why they should buy it.
 
Those interested in the new Thrunite lights should check out their customer service in the market place as well as posts mixed up here.

There are half a dozen or so threads with new, broken thrunite lights that thrunite refuses to do anything about.

Nothing against new lights - love em! But thrunite is putting out some real junk and not standing behind it. It'd be nice to see a larger group of CPF'ers bring them to accountability. I remember when they released the V2 Catapult and claimed 1000+ OTF lumens; BigC got 640 and enough CPF'ers cried out against the disparity of those numbers Thrunite did something about it.

Hmmm..... this is a little worrying. :(

I have been researching extensively at CPF for a good thrower and had just about decided on the Catapult V3 until I saw this TN31 a few days ago. I can't say I've seen too many complaints about ThruNite stuff but I'll certainly have a bit more of a look now.

ricky, could you say if the complaints you are referring to are across the board with ThruNite generally, or confined to a certain model or product line?

I've never been an "early adopter" (with software, hardware or unproven products in general) and have no inclination to be rushing into a $200+ light until I've seen a review or two by someone of the calibre of Selfbuilt and the others who do such a great job in here. I guess it will be smart to wait a few months to see just how the new model is received by those that know a bit more about these things than I do.

But I guess I must be a budding flashaholic because I'm feeling unjustifiably tempted :devil: and need to pick up something for a possible outback trip in a few months time. Ah well, mustn't let impatience get the better of me.....

Trev - most everything I've seen has been with the scorpion or TN10/11. I haven't heard of any problems with the Catapult. I am bothered by their lack of response towards all those problems. I noticed 2 that had issues with them recently got them resolved - after many posts here and 3+ months of negotiations.
 
I have been looking at the Thrunite TN31 and there seems to be a discrepancy regarding the diameter of the bezel. I will assume it is 70mm, which should make it a XM-L throw king. The lumens is questionable at 1147. It is possible by driving the U2 really hard which would account for the copper plate.

Thanks Ricky.

On the one hand, it's good to know the problems you were referring to were not for the exact model I was looking at. Still, it doesn't create the ideal impression when a company is slow to respond to problems and complaints, or when they inflate performance claims on their products.

In any case, it seems to reinforce what I thought about the need to wait for some first hand experiences with the TN31 before taking the plunge myself.

Great lights, both TN30 and TN31, and great UI! But I have been wondering the same thing. And is this value supposed to be LED, OTF or ANSI??? Looking forward to a good review! :thumbsup:

I don't know if I'm one of your favorite reviewers, but I've contacted Thrunite about reviewing these. I'm currently waiting for a response. :thumbsup: If you want to see reviews, feel free to ask them directly, that has worked with other dealers in the past.
 
FWIW in the marketplace forum Thrunite recently offered to send me a new light. It they do that will certainly change my opinion on their customer service. Of course I'm hoping they take care of everyone else as well! :)

I'll let you all know how it turns out...
