Hi Folk!!

Here i go again. I recently thought about modding a Solitaire with a TLE-20 (meant for a 2xAAA mini mag) and use a 10440 Liion battery. I tryed the TLE-20, that seemed to me to be give with voltage from 3v to 6v.

Driven by a 4.2v Liion battery, it lights up quite bright, but then fades out while turning to a terribly dangerous :poof: looking green colour.

Can anyone explain me what's going on? Appart from the obvious "overvoltage" or "overdriving" it? It is clearly stated on lighthouds website it's working with 2, 3 or 4 batteries (4x1.5=6v to me...) waaay more than a puny 10440 can deliver...

Is mine a baaad one? Weird cuz it's been working perfectly since a couple years and still is in a 2xAAA config.

Thanks for :candle: me!!

Mrija

Sounds like:
Too much current from the 10440. Small alkaline batteries can not sustain as much current.

You are over driving it if it spectrum shifts like that.

The specs on Lighthound's page are wrong.

The TLE-20 contains a boost circuit, so input voltage should be limited to 3V (or so). You are direct driving the LED when you run the TLE-20 with a 10440 LIon cell.
