TnC Key Lux AA light Cap Stuck

I found my old TnC Key Lux AA light while unpacking. Not touched for years. I can't get the tail cap off although the head comes off smoothly. I fear battery rot. Any tricks to getting this open?

That's one of my favorite lights.
Wish I could help. The threads are on the outside so filling the tube up with anti corrosion won't hit them.

Maybe heat and a strap wrench?

I'll take it off your hands if you don't want to mess with it.
