The Strike Bezel keeps coming loose on my 6PDL. I've tried a strap wrench, but there isn't much to grab on to. Don't really want to put a pair of Vice Grips on it and scratch it up.

Does Surefire sell, or does anyone make, a tool for tightening the Strike Bezel?

Thanks

Thanks guys, a couple of good ideas. I don't use a Mouse Pad, but I think the block of wood idea will work. I'm off to give it a try.

www.flashlightlens.com sells a plastic tool that works well for C, G, P, D series lights window retaining ring.

I would suggest getting a few since I have had one snap on me when trying to remove a bezel ring.

+1 on the loctite too.

Thanks everyone, the wood idea worked pretty good. I mounted a small piece of 2 X 4 Pine in a vise and then traced the circle outline of the Bezel. I then used the tip of a flat screwdriver to make "indents" in the wood to coincide with the tips of the Strike Bezel. Then I just pushed down and turned to tighten.

I think I'm gonna go with the blue loctite also, I just gotta be careful not to get any on the lens.

There are a few issues here...

Most factory Defender bezels have 5 points, while most bezel tools are built for 6.

You need to be able to grip the points. I've not tried the wood method but can recommend heavy Teva's (clean). The rubber is dense enough to hold but still soft enough not to mar.

You also need to grip the base. I suggest a 4 mil baggy (8 mils total) folded over the hex, then apply a large adjustable wrench (10 inch Crecent).

Torquing the wrench to the base while forcing the bezel ring into the wood/rubber, you can tighten it well enough not to need glue.
