Any suggestions on the best 3 2XAA lights with throw? I have many that are floody like thrunite, olight s15 but love a light with goodthrow or focused beam.

I am doing the same research. I want a better 2AA dogwalking light with some throw. I have a Fenix E25 (156m throw) that is pretty good but, there has got to be something better. I want a little more throw, a lower low, and the ability to instantly jump to high from any setting. So far, I am looking at the Quark Turbo AA, the Nitecore MT21A (200m throw), the Nitecore EA2 (141m throw).

Hope you get some good suggestions.

I would look at the MT21A. It is the most curious light to have come out in recent times in my opinion with the optimal reflector technology they've labelled PDOT.

The E25 is definitely a throwy light.

Then there is always the dereelight javelin, still going strong.

Oh yeah, I also have the E25, it's definitely a thrower and cheaper than most other throwers, I guess *think* so you may start with something like this and see if you like it. In fact, it's such a THROWER, that I can't use it in the yard because the distance there's too small, lol.

In the 2xAA class I haven't found much to beat the old Fenix TK20. I still have one in my car glovebox as my emergency light. Very tight and punchy beam, neutral XR-E (yep, it's a blast from the past).

Cheers,
Alex

i think surefire's E2L-AA and their newer E2LA-AA are the best 2xAA lights with good throw.
pricey though, but shopping around can save some money. with the higher price tag you get better quality, a lifetime warranty, better re-sell value.
i think its worth it.

Eagletac P20a2 with an xpg s2, xpe or xpg2(if the xpg2 is out yet)
Nitecore Ea2
QuarkAA2 turbo with xpg2

those would be my choices for throwy lights.
The Dereelight Javelin with the right dropin may do better but that's more custom and I don't know enough about there quality to suggest them.

1. Dereelight Javelin (best) in 2xaa, greater in 3xAA format. 2. Quark 2xAA Turbo 3. Nitecore EA2

Another throwy light, Rayovac Indesructable, about $20 at Home Depot. Lifetime warranty too!

I have an EA2, the lowest is quite low (you'd need dark adapted eyes to use it this low), I like it because you have the option of the red LED if you want it, too. The hotspot and beam pattern seem reasonably similar to the Thrunite Archer 1c, to my novice eyes, and activating max from any level just needs a hold of the button. I don't think using this light with gloves on would be easy though, if that's a consideration. I also like how you can use the clip for bezel up or down carry.

Balder SE-1 with extension tube - XP-E.
Shining Beam Caveman
Dereelight Javelin XP-E

I have both NITE MT21A and SHININGBEAM CAVEMAN. Although CAVEMAN has a larger head there's no comparison between them when it comes to throw; overall brightness is very similar thoughI think MT21A - with its amazing XP-E2 - might be the best 2xAA thrower outhere especially for its compact size - small head diameter - I think it puts 7,000-8,000 lux and it appears to run in regulation with NiMH. Maybe, a contender can be the older EAGLETAC P100A2 which is also using an XP-E but a previous generation one. Yes, MT21A is a real thrower, clearly better than FENIX E21 for example. Who else have medium lights - 12-14cm long ones with 3-3.5cm head diameter - using 18650 and having XP-E2s ??? Can't see anything in the market ... basically those would throw as good - if not better - as the old XR-E R2 lights but they will be 50% brighter. I need them

The Fenix E25 is a good thrower. Underated and under appreciated too! Fenix's LD22 is worth condsidering, with 215 lumens for upto 2.5 hours and 3 lumens for 150+ hours.

One more light to look into is the EagleTac D25A2, rated 318 lumes, it should be a good thrower

What Thrunite do you have? Why 2AA? What is your intended purpose with this light your looking for?

If you want to get a good 2xAA light you have only these two choices:

1. FourSevens Quark 2AA Turbo
2. Dereelight Javelin

No other lights can throw like these two.

I just purchased the 47's Quark Turbo and love it. Small and powerful.

Thanks for your input.

just bought a new fenix e21 from edisonbright. was 34.95 came with 2aa alkalines not the ones in the fenix package and 4 nimh with charger and free shipping! also arrived in 1 day lol same city as i live in. Anyways to my surprise i always loved the e21 body and i got it but its got a modern xpe2 led in it. it looks sweet and the board behind it is white too with smooth reflector, beam and color is nice and its tight throws well. I wonder what the lumens is on it. packaging says 170 lumens still, typing in the serial says it has a xpe r4 but i know thats the new xpe2 its white with the two wires inside.
